Got the turbo all polished up, painted, and installed on Sunday so I took it for a quick spin. This swap was pretty quick from the last one, having popped loose the down and up pipes bolts loose made it easier.
First thing I notice was NO SCREECHING this time :thumb:. It feel stronger and seems to take off/accelerate better/faster than the unmodified stock turbo; also sounds the same at idle. Accelerating from a stop it picks up pretty quick and the turbo whistle is fairly pronounced/loud; that was with the windows rolled about half way down but even rolled up it seems to be more notice able, I'll take it out for another spin and try get some video of it to post up.
I didn't get a good look at where my EGT's topped out at but I did notice it seemed to be about 100 deg's lower than before modifying it. One thing that did seem to catch my eye was that when letting off the throttle EGT's dropped quite fast. When coming to a stop like or turning into the driveway EGT's would drop to 300 - 400 deg's quick.
I may not get to it this weekend but we'll see, I've got a trailer to paint, I'll take it out for some more testing to see of it performs; put some cruising miles on it as well as some 0 - 60 times to compare it to before the swap.
I was able to do this one pretty quick; about 10 - 11 hours from dismantle of the turbo, machining the ports out, wet sanding, painting the cover to assembly. Just to give everybody a rough idea of what it takes.
Alright, enough chatting on to the pictures. :happy2:
