If I pull the filter and it seems like that could be the problem do I just replace it and see if that helps? And if the filter looks fine and I pull the trans what am I looking for

Did you put a filter lock on? Did you pull the old orange rubber seal out? Cut open filter and post pics.

Driving the truck any more is insane. This trans is coming back out. Noises are never a simple problem.

If the filter is clogged; you have a lot of damage. Yes the whine may go away for a short while, but you need to find out what happened. If the filter is not clogged; that means the damage may be minimal and you may be lucky damage wise.

no, read mikes posts for what they are. your trans will be coming back out. the filter is a starting point in diagnosis. You know how at the shop you have to diag the problem, give enough definitive information to prove what the issue is, then let your service manager explain it to the customer as to what the problem is, then they have to give the go ahead before the job can be done? In this case, your skipping the diag that the techs here are trying to get and instead trying to just go off what you want to hear is the issue to fix it. you lost the mechanics process here and started becoming a parts replacer. Diag this thing just like you would a customers car with our help or what we can provide so you can figure out the issue. dont get jumpy, things get real expensive that way.

Alright guys sorry I have updated just got the truck in the shop and pulled the pan and I thought it looked odd before but it had the spot for the filter lock but I believe this filter is a standard filter idk if that would make a difference as far as what issues I was having or not.

It's a shallow then I told them deep when I ordered it though another reason I didn't think nothing about it I pulled the filter apart it's got some trash in it. But nothing that looks internal and not real sure how any of It got in there the trans was cleaned inside and out piece for piece going back together.

Any metal shavings is not good. I'm not exactly sure what those are from. You'll have to wait for what Mike or Evan instructs you to do next.

Aluminum won't stick to the magnet. The picture doesn't really show close enough what the debris is. At some point, some of the debris looks close enough to be aluminum shavings but I could be wrong.

If the Trans was cleaned and the cooler properly flushed you should see damn near nothing in it. That's more then the normal little bit of felting from new clutches. NOT good

We're gonna pull the trans and go through the whole thing to see what is damaged and what the issue might be.
