To clarify 87A bin is for Allison, while T87 on bench is from a gasser.

I have found 1 canbus ID used by this one, but not listed in the 87A bin. So they are very close in GMLAN language, but I've yet to be able to import this bin to EFI to view tables and compare. Pops a msg, saying doesn't match known module and send them a copy...

I have a T87 with an Allison calibration on it (out of a 2016 Silverado) and a T87A out of a 2017 2.0T Camaro. I could send you the CTZ from the T87, but that likely doesn't help any. If there's a way to read a raw BIN with tools that I have..... It might be interesting to see what's different between the T87 and T87A calibrations. Not surprised that you can't open the T87A bin with EFILive since they don't support it.

Yet...

I haven't played with this 2020+ junk enough to know if it is readable, after an unlock or not. Might be lml setup, where need the bin to start with.. Or pop a chip to get it. I'll certainly enquire for ya.

Big shout out to the SC based team at circuit board medics for sending me some T14 scraps. Because one man's junk, is another man's treasure..

Have enough cases now to build a couple of adapter cables, and still send some off to China for reverse engineering..

Had no luck reaching anyone at that PKC company about a male connection. Did get email back from another supplier about the EPC part#. Said nothing but a header veraion is out there in the drawings world they know of.

So for now at least, I have some pieces to scan for starters..

Never hurts to ask...

Think these guys could use a FICM / Bosch style header to resolve 50% of these TCM failures. Allison would just chit if we redesigned their hardware too.. LOL

Simple offer to share ideas is sometimes all it takes to work towards a common goal. Tell ya right now, won't see me cracking these open to repair anytime soon.

Total side question for anyone watching... Does anyone happen to have or have access to the pinout for the T01 TCM (Same connector as the T87/T87A/T93, but I suspect not pin compatible)? It's found on, at least, the 2019 Malibu with the 1.5T and CVT Trans. Also, the pinout for a 2016 Silverado with the Duramax and 6-speed Allison would be beneficial for this endeavor.

Seeing all these different revision numbers inside these junk cases, helps one understand how many times the head engineer had to realize, his grand design actually sucked..

Sorta like when my GM tech buddy would send me pics of the latest Rev# on CP4 Pumps. Yeah just laugh and smile, because ya know some top shelf engineer is sweating it hard over his past decisions.. LOL

Now I get to figure how to stick solder to these pins that supposedly don't stick to solder...

They kind of look tinned already... And if memory serves, the A40 I opened up way back had real fine wires soldered to the pads... If nothing else, scuff them up add some flux and see what they do...

So we may hit a hardware cut off, where we would need to read, and retransmit as correct wave to gap years. Won't know until we try, but that might be our different between 87, 87A, and T93 model also.

Of course they're not interchangeable. Planned obsolescence at work

Of course, if we get to the point of comms working with the LBZ, I'm crazy enough to find a 2018 Allison and do a 'cut and splice' to make a trans that'll work with the newer speed sensors lol.

Phosphoric acid is what I use for difficult to solder stuff. Sold as metal etch in the hardware store. Or sometimes descaler like lime-away used to be. The good stuff is green and thin like water. Works best with low temperature solder as it will burn if overheated. Because it's excellent oxide removal capabilities it makes the solder wick up into stranded wires like like you wouldn't believe. Makes the solder flow better the anything else. I've even soldered stainless steel with it. Does require rising/cleaning because it's conductive and the residue is corrosive. Otherwise the best stuff I've ever used. A little goes a ling way too. You could dampen a paper towel with it and wipe down those pads and it will likely be enough

Thanks I'll keep that in mind when I drop one of these off to my soldering guru tomorrow..

The first attempt with my pitchfork size soldering iron, resulted in just melted plastic. Scuff and Flux did me no good. But I recall watching a video that explained how these were spot welded, non-insolated wires between header and pcb. So hopefully we can tell more under the microcope. See below.

For now, I'm gonna go Ted Levine on one of these cases, and try to get some pins exposed to slip some standard female pins over.. According to my E38 swap friend, he has a scanned copy of this socket and couple 3D prints attempted so far. Nothing solid yet. My innermost Ted quickly discovered, this is a 2 piece assembly.

The pins are cast into a header which slides into this outer frame. Now getting it back out might be interesting. Let's see what they used for glue. Is that center pin for a puller??

Hmm.. that's interesting... I've soldered onto cheap chinesium terminals by scuffing them and then tinning them with rosen core solder... I can't imagine what those might be made of if the won't accept solder...your 'pitchfork sized' iron could come into ply... I have an iron with a 1mm tip...

Now, I have the stuff to spot weld electronics, but the transition...

Awesome . I have a KWeld spot welder that works great with battery cells, but I don't know how well it would work with this... And of course, if it would weld something to these terminals, what's the ideal transition?
