Ran around getting fittings today for the oil cooler. Replaced the hoses while I was at it. Got them all ran and strapped in

Plenty of room around the steering box and pitman arm. Pic is deceiving though

Then pulled the trans line off and the fitting, pulled the o-rings and put new ones on the inside the line seals too and the outer one the fitting seals to the heat exchanger.

Then the fun task of dropping the tank. I’ve clearly forgotten how much fun that is . Once I figured out getting the damn fill tube off, went fairly smooth. I did find the 5/8 hose inside where it connects to the ppe bell mouth that connects in the bottom of the sump had split. Surprised I never had low fuel tank issues but the lift pump must have been separating out the air I’d get. New hose and hose clamp this time.

Then replaced the part the sender is connected to and holds the pick up tube. Easier than drilling a new pick up hole. Also replaced the 5/8 hose that went to my lift pump. It’s heater hose I bought 8 years ago cause no auto store at the time had 5/8 fuel hose. It served its purpose but was finally getting pretty soft.

Ready to go in

Jammed it all back in and went for a test drive finally. Front bumper needs more trimming as the tires rub on bumps and turning but no coolant leaks and just a fuel leak from the feed line I didn’t tighten all the way.

Just need to stick the bottom valence on after a couple days making sure no leaks

Oh buddy, they were not happy lol. Had to cut some bracing out, use the press to reform them, hammer back square and then reweld the bracing back in. Then the bottom tabs needed to be hammered flat, tacked to the bracket and then use the press to push them back into shape.

It’s all good though. You’d never know they were damaged and everything bolts up nicely

I saw another one yesterday but I forgot to take a picture. It is rather interesting to see how un-even they are mounted on the frame from the factory.

Any how, glad to see you making progress. :thumb:

Wish I could say the same.

Oh I’m sure they ain’t perfect. These ones aren’t but the bumper is level and that’s all I care about lol.

Looks good James. How much more coolant does it hold?

Albert, to answer your question (forgot yesterday), it hold another 1.25 gal. I put 1.5 gal in but I attribute the last .25 to the amount I spilled on the floor. A lot more than I thought!

And she is finally done front end wise. Trimmed up the bumper for tire clearance and to flow with the wheel well. Then threw the valence on. Aux rad bracket pushes the bottom of it out a bit but don’t look bad. Would look worse if I cut it to relax it. Really like it. Ignore how dirty the old girl is, waiting on my buddy/detailer to have time and shine her up. At some point I’ll get the plastics, mirrors and few other parts painted gloss black to match the truck

James, maybe its just me, but for some reason those fenders with the large flares just dont look right with the stock bumper.

Oh I’m sure some won’t like it. I’d like to cut this section off but not sure I can do it and add a skid plate like a prerunner would have while keeping the aux rad and oil cooler in place

Have you looked into the Tahoe style valence to see if it would work for what you want?

TX of course
I think it looks nice and clean. It doesn’t scream “Hey look at me I think I’m a prerunner” like so many like to do.

Sorry if I made you feel bad, James. Was never my intention. I just thought your truck looked more proportional with the larger bumper on it. I can get used to the change. ;)
