How impressive is a budget build if it can't make it through 1 whole race season?
One answer would be, more impressive then someone who spent a ton of money to buy every last part for his build and it still blew up halfway through the season.
Parts play a big part in how things hold up. But so does the builder, the machine shop, the tuner, heck even the user needs to know and respect what it takes to keep a high HP motor together for a good amount of time.
The builders out there saying you can get by without all these (fill in the blank) parts are just as ignorant as the ones insisting that you buy everything available for a dmax.
Over time the good builders will be sorted out from the bad ones. In the mean time the guy's having the cheapest person build there motor just may regret there decision down the road.......
ill be honest, i didnt figure machine work to be as bad as it seems it will be, i also never gave any thoughts to the heads..stupid me i'm at 120k of hard abuse i'm sure they will need attention
125k on my heads:thumb: when pulled looked good as new
well thats good, but i hit 4k more often then i probably should and stupid high egt's are also a regular occurrence
