    GM 3100 head question

    Some 3.1's, front wheel drives, had the shorter bolt or the threaded stud/bolt due to the wishbone strut mount to the radiator bracket. That bolt is to center that bracket.

    Each time Mick sheared his keys, the balancer spun and loosened the center bolt. Matter of fact, that is how he recognized the balancer problem the second time.:D

    Both times it's happened to us, we were lucky. Only balancer hub damage occured.

    Yes sir, would beat him out of the cab. This was after 20 to 30 pulls for Mick over a few weeks. Maybe remove the converter bolts and push the converter back. Restart the engine and see what happens. I wouldn't rev it up but let it idle and start the process of elimination. Just a thought...

    I don't know about the stator being broke causing the engine to shake. The last few stators I broke would cause the engine to lug in drive to the point of stall. The converter would make noise in neutral but not shake. What do you think Mike? One more thing? Any chance the balancer is...

    I learned to check everything after one incident, I was welding Galvanized Steel inside with a fan blowing across me and the welded. Hell, I had the windows and door open :D Back on topic now. Sorry Pat.
