    Guessing is right. Hp isn't the issue. It's low RPM torque, move the RPM range up, get away from big peak Tq numbers and an 80 will live fine behind a big power anything.

    I agree. Ran all last year this way. 3900ish RPM. Stock valve train. I imagine luck may have played a part in it living. My bad. I was talking cam degrees, 360/86= 4.18 degrees.

    Works out to roughly 4.2* retarded. Has to be worth some overall power. Not sure that I'll ever know how much since I'm changing so many things now. Agreed but regardless, cam pin was intact and not threatening to shear.

    Not the greatest picture but this is the engine out of my street rod. I've never had the cam out, I got the engine bone stock. Looks like the timing is one tooth retarded, probably from the factory. Anyone ever seen this? The 2 cam teeth dots should go on either side of the crank tooth dot right?

There is no guarantee that you will or won't need heads/cylinders bored etc. Buy another engine if you want to start the engine build without having to disable your truck while you build by using the engine...

    My experience was a little different. 10K on my Dmax street rod last year and the double heim panhard was hammered out.QA1 heims. Going to a poly bushing this year to hopefully make it last.

    If you build one, I wouldn't do a double heim panhard. It'll wear out crazy fast. Make one side a rubber/poly bushing and it'll live a lot longer.

    Don't take what I said as even remotely negative, I didn't mean it that way. I love hearing everyone's recipe for pulling fuel. 2-stroke oil, ATF, Stanadyne, Nitro (not that legal), you name it, someone swears by it.
