    LBZ: Tuning out the MAF

It wasn't a shot at you at all Trent, I have never had a problem with you and admire your work. It was a simple joke with a fellow big single owner who refered to an S480 as streetable. I'm glad you can see that I am just trying to help people.

    LBZ: Tuning out the MAF

Whoa, whoa, whoa - big single turbos are not at all acceptable on the street. We all know the only way to have a streetable truck with over 700 rwhp is to install multiple turbos and powder coated tubing all over the place.......:baby::angel:

    Injectors

I would not recommend either of those, and would recommend Banks over Bully Dog on most products. I would recommend going with parts that are the best bang for the buck for each modification that you do. My list goes something like this: Intake: I always recommend a sealed box unit (true...

    Strange DSP5 issue

If you have a truely stock tune in the base position it's limiting tables will be holding back your bigger DSP tunes. That is why most tuners prefer to build a DSP5 tune with the race tune as the base - it's limiting tables are taken care of. The alternative is to take a race tune, swap in the...

    Strange DSP5 issue

When the LBZ/LMM DSP5 switches came out over a year ago he started having them made that way. So all SoCal LBZ/LMM DSP5 switches and all LB7 and LLY switches made since then are in this order: 4, 3, 2, 1, Base The older SoCal switches for LB7 and LLY are in the same order as the Fleece...

    s400

Agreed. It would work, especially in a towing set - just wouldn't have quite the top end of a S475.

    Strange DSP5 issue

The Fleece switches from left to right are: Base, 1, 2, 3, 4 The latest SoCal switches are: 4, 3, 2, 1, Base As has been said your truck is resorting to a table or tables that are only in the base tune, tables that don't change when you move your switch. Since your base tune is a race tune with...

    s400

Did nobody catch that he said it's a 71mm, 95mm (which is more than likely really 96mm). The 71mm compressor has a 101mm exducer so he has to be refering to turbine. That means it has a T6 (most likely 1.32 AR turbine housing on a 96mm turbine and it is not at all a turbo you could run as a...

    Transmission Issue!

I know you said you already checked but I've been told that before and people were watching desired rail pressure. I just dealt with the same thing on an LMM last week, he said it wouldn't shift under WOT, went for a quick ride and saw that his rail would drain to 3,000 PSI under WOT and the...

    LBZ: Tuning out the MAF

Most of the tunes for my truck have the MAF disabled so that I have complete control with my foot - most of my customers' tunes have the MAF enabled to make the truck more streetable for people without the ability to properly use the pedal.

    Strange DSP5 issue

The way you have to do it to put the tunes in the order you are asking for is write the base tune as a race tune then swap in the DSP tables from a stock tune; otherwise you will have limiting tables holding you back when you are on your race tune setting on the switch. So as has been said...

    forged pistons?

X2 I think that cut and coated pistons are reliable up to about 800 rwhp, after that they can and will last but not for extremely long. Any time you are building a motor it should be getting torque plate honed to get the bores round with the added stress of studs. I also recommend align...

    LBZ: Tuning out the MAF

I agree with everyone  Trent: exactly, most people delete it because they don't want to mount the sensor - and we all know you can easily tune it to be inoperable without physically deleting it Mike S: exactly, when tuning for someone with big injectors that doesn't know how to drive easy...

    forged pistons?

They are spec'd by TTS, but are not made in house. IIRC they are made by Mahle. If by everything done right you mean keeping the power reasonable (>800-900 rwhp) then I agree they will be reliable.

    forged pistons?

My SoCal cut and coated lasted me a year and about 12,000 miles of pure abuse. 10,000 miles of that was fuel only on the S475 making 820+, that last 2,000 was with the S480 and spray. I typically drove around on tunes that were over 800 rwhp and was not at all easy on the truck, it took alot...

    Injectors

I would advise against the Banks setups - you are paying for their 4 page ads in the front of every diesel magazine. They have a few products I recommend, but alot of products that I don't. If you want mileage I would also recommend an LBZ or LMM (06-10) truck, for 1 it will be a whole lot...

    Engine autopsy

Agreed, and the guy asked what a piston sees, not what the temperature of the metal is. Exactly what I was explaining - I've been in and seen 120* temperatures, doesn't mean that my core temperature got that high.

    Engine autopsy

x2 - to get the type of power where you are even thinking about forged pistons I would say you are going to need some "unneeded abuse". Matt has had stock pistons last much longer than the Mahle forged pistons, he still hasn't sent them back to Guy to be inspected for cause of failure but 6...

    Engine autopsy

Forged pistons need more piston to wall clearance than cast pistons (.008" on the Arias, .006" on the Mahle IIRC), which means that when they are cold they will be looser in the bore which will cause more wear on the skirts and cylinder walls. The Hellfire rings used with the Arias also don't...

    Cost of 08 6speed trany build ?

If anyone needs to know anything about Diesel Addiction I guess you will have to do a google search and call or email me. I can't answer your questions in this thread and don't get on to check PMs often.
