Air in the Fuel? Bad FPR? Bad FPRV? Video in thread.

Wow, that does not sound happy at all. The truck is having a very hard time regulating fuel pressure. Given what you said about it's history, it's probably a combination of the injectors and FPR both being almost dead. Can you get a log of the main fuel rate and main pulsewidth at idle? And if...

    NP246/266 custom build

No secret squirrel, but you're right, this thread has been short on DIY. The mechanical side of things is not my cup of tea (which is why I paid Ultimate Transmission to do it), but let me see if I remember what they said they did. Take this with a grain of salt, as I don't remember things I...

    NP246/266 custom build

I've now done this basic conversion on both of my rigs. Did the 2003 LB7 Suburban a year or so back. Ended up paying a transmission shop to do the mechanical side of things. The electrical was easy on the Suburban, because it originally had the NP246, so basically just plugged the original TCSCM...

Woot! Now let's hope they never get used.

Boost tube blew off, 2psi at idle, why

Torque doesn't correctly read boost on the LB7. The LB7 has a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor, and it has a barometric pressure sensor. It doesn't expose a true boost PID to read. The correct way to determine boost (how EFILive & the Edge CTS do it) is to read MAP and Baro, then report...

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

I'm not sure you can blame this on GM. The truck is 13 years old with 350k miles. Needing to clean the cooling stack every decade or so isn't unreasonable. And the fan clutch is a wear item. They only last 5-7 years in my experience. I've been through 3 on my 2003. If it makes you feel any...

    Remote start question

The way these trucks are wired is the alternator is hooked directly to the batteries (in the big red junction box near the power steering pump). The ECU controls the alternator, so as long as the engine is running, the ECU will command charging, even if the ignition switch is off. You can...

LB7: Trans Limp and P1781 / P0700 under load acceleration

If that doesn't solve it, one thing I thought of while reading through might be worth investigating. You say it only happens while accelerating while towing. That would mean a very high engine load, which could cause the engine to torque to the side if motor mounts are getting weak/torn. This...

    2003 lb7 Help!!!!

Glad you got it fixed, and sorry you had to open it back up. I remember how frustrated I was when this happened to me. I suspect neither of us will make this mistake again

    Twins with Twins, Anyone?

Might want to take one and smack/shake the hell out of it to simulate rough water. You don't want it shutting off air to a motor just because of a rough ride. As long as the solenoid has a strong enough internal spring it should be good. Design seems reasonable to me.

    Lb7 swap questions

Yeah, the whole truck gives the most options? What is it going into? If it is going into another GMT800, you only really need the engine, motor mount plates off the frame, and harness. Plus transmission and transfer case depending on what you're wanting to do. If it is going in something old...

    2003 lb7 Help!!!!

There are probably some external ways to test the FICM with special equipment, but I don't know what/how. I have a spare FICM I use to diagnose issues like this. You don't have to even remove the original one. Just wedge the spare one next to the original and move the plugs over. The diesel...

    2003 lb7 Help!!!!

This will not be an ECU problem. It will be either FICM, wiring harness, or the injector coil itself. I had this happen on my truck right after I installed new injectors. Turns out I spaced out and forgot to tighten the wires on one of the injectors. It made good enough contact when the engine...

    No way ricer...

I've had a couple cars stay dead even with the Suburban with the 425HP tune in it. It's been making me wonder if I need to turn the poor thing up a bit, or just start driving my truck more. It is always a lot of fun to hear about ricers getting a nice surprise. I suspect very few would expect...

PPEI Next On The Chopping Block???

I gave them my real info, but this isn't the first time I've contacted my representatives. Never had any problems in the past, even had a couple people write me a letter back. If you use fake information, they're far more likely to ignore it. Supporting proposed legislation isn't (yet) a crime...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

    - Stuff a clean dry rag down the y-bridge - Drill and tap - Vacuum any chips from the outside - Carefully remove the rag - Vacuum the inside of the y-bridge thoroughly I'd be OK doing that on my rig, but realize this comes with a small possibly of running bits of metal through the motor. I...

    Twins with Twins, Anyone?

I've got a whole Stockholm thing going on with mine. I own 2 LB7s, and my brother has one too. He switched from a 6-leaker LOL The SAC injectors seem to be the solution. That means I'll have to do one more set in my Suburban one day. They're not as bad as everyone says. But that's just what...

LB7 injector HP line socket info

How is everyone doing LB7 injector lines without a crows foot? Does everyone just guess on the torque, or use the old pull-on-a-wrench-with-a-spring-scale trick? I always use a crows foot to tighten them up, works really nice. Having the right tool can make all the difference, though. Looks...
