LBZ: Latest EFI update has screwed me

If you don't browse the internet on your old XP laptop, I'd get the drivers James was talking about and keep rolling with it. I am probably one of the biggest Windows 7 fans out there, but with only 5 months of support (security updates) left, it doesn't make a ton of sense to do a brand new...

07 Classic Stereo Upgrade that retains OEM controls?

I have never found anything that retains the rear seat console functionality. What I did in my Suburban is put in a TNR800 (factory navigation unit out of a Cadillac, etc.). It fully supports the rear seat controls. Though extremely hard to find, I got a PAC VCI-GM2 to add a backup camera. I...

    2020 hd

I actually like the lights in the fenders, but still can't stand the mirrors and the front end. I am also glad they brought the rear seat vents back. At work, we go to lunch in my 2003 more than my coworker's 2018 because of my rear vents. I don't know what they were smoking when they removed...

LMM: best place for drive pressure gauge

The 2 banks should be nearly identical, so one sensor will be fine. I'd do the passenger side because there's more room to have the copper coil and it's easier to get to, but either is fine.

    mysterious coolant system issue

Huh, that'll do it. At least it isn't head gaskets!

    Chevy1925 (James) Truck/motor build

Heck, my standard bowl race cast haze a bit under that criteria.

    Oil cooling

It wasn't obvious (at least to me) that you'd been out beating on your truck. I totally understand the desire to sort out the little stuff before taking a family trip. That's why I did the ~100 mile mountain drive before the first big haul that could leave me stranded with no easy way to get the...

    Ac temperature cool not cold

The pressures are in the ballpark. You should be hearing your fan start to engage if you rev it up or are driving it around. On all 3 of my LB7s, the A/C will throw enough heat off to engage the fan after a minute or two of city driving. If your fan isn't engaging, it might be time for a new fan...

    Oil cooling

X2 I've got 37,625 mi on my build, with 600+ HP from day one. I don't subscribe to the gentle break in philosophy. But, ain't my engine, ain't my money, so I can't really criticize. I know mine was born into fire! :roflmao: I did 1 heat cycle in the shop, then a ~100 mile trip through the...

    Oil cooling

That's how I broke mine in! 2 heat cycles on it, loaded it up to 21,000 lb and drove up and down a 6% grade.

    Raced the Pontiac Grand Prix

The transmission is a stock rebuild with a billet Sonnax 3rd clutch piston and an upgraded low-stall torque concerter. The supercharged cars came with a 4T65E HD, which was pretty strong to begin with. I smoked the stock torque converter clutch, so I bought a 2nd car with a fresh stock rebuild...

    Raced the Pontiac Grand Prix

Yw501dcl-aI Here's the dash cam video from the car. I am not sure if the other guy was trying to skirt the rules, or just didn't have time to get on the turbo at the line. He didn't stay on the first stage very long at all, but I kind of bumped to 2nd stage pretty quick, so maybe he was feeling...

    Raced the Pontiac Grand Prix

Yeah, I ended up next to a properly fast turbo car. I'll try and get the dash cam video of the race, he flys by me shortly after the launch.

    Raced the Pontiac Grand Prix

My brother was driving it to the track (I was driving the Suburban) and he ended up at a stop light next to a Ford Focus RS. He got the jump, then the RS went after it (all I could hear was the RS exhaust). I kept expecting the RS to start to pull on the GTP, but it never did. They both shut...

    Raced the Pontiac Grand Prix

Firebird had their midnight drags last night, and I wanted to shake it up a bit, so instead of my truck, I brought my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP daily driver. The car has a L32 in place of the stock L67 (because I seized the stock one) with the Gen V supercharger. It's got 60# injectors, a ZZP...

    Ac temperature cool not cold

If the old compressor didn't break inside and send debris out, you don't need to replace everything. If it did send debris out, or you aren't sure, it is usually best to replace everything except the evaporator (the inside the cab part, because it is a giant pain to get to). The reason I...

    Ac temperature cool not cold

If the system was open for more than 12 hours or so, I would replace the accumulator, or vacuum it overnight. 30 minutes won't pull all the moisture out that accumulated. This will be a bit long, but I hope it will help you understand what is happening. Or would happen if you had the correct...

RockAuto appears to have them for around $40 for an off-brand, and $140 for the OEM lines.
