LBZ: hard/start oil life reads 0

It sounds like the batteries are weak, and the voltage drops really low when cranking. On these trucks, when the voltage gets really low, they do odd things. I would get the batteries load tested (one at a time, you can't test them properly in the truck) and replace them both if one is bad.

Need opinions of my injectors (those with larger injector experience please look)

Does your truck still have the DPF? I know the LB7's always got the best mileage, but yours does seem low to me. Not crazy low, but lower than I would expect. Towing the same weight at the same speed, I get 10.5+ MPG, and it jumps to 12+ MPG if I drop the average speed closer to 70. This is on...

    Question: V2 to V3 Upgrade

If we have a V2 wear out, would we be able to send it in and order a new V3, and have the VIN licenses transferred to the V3? Sometimes I think my V2 isn't long for this world (display/keypad problems), and I would really rather not have to buy duplicate VIN licenses for my vehicles when it...

    LB7: Duramax new guy

I'm sure if they searched around they could find the info on "normal" balance rates. But balance rates don't prove the injectors are good, they can only indicate they might be bad. As for the app, maybe no one had used that one before? I haven't.

Allison 5sp: Shifted into reverse on accident

Just confirming what others have said, the TCM won't let you go into reverse at speed. I think it's something like 8 MPH or above disables reverse. Your backup lights do come on, and more than once I've used it to mess with tailgaters. Throw it in reverse at 70 MPH and they look all kinds of...

Rebuild Filter head or buy new?

My first one was leaking around the primer plunger. Rebuilt it, and 6 months later it was leaking again. The one on the Suburban was leaking around the heater and the primer plunger. Just replaced that, didn't even try and rebuild it. If you have a lift pump, a leak is annoying. If you don't, a...

Rebuild Filter head or buy new?

The factory AirDog branded one. I switched to a Donaldson now.

Rebuild Filter head or buy new?

I suspect you are right. What I do know, though, is it caught a whole lot more water than if I didn't have the factory filter head still. That's why I would recommend keeping it, even with a lift pump.

"OFFICIAL" What did you do to your D-Max today?

I replaced my aux oil cooler lines and transmission cooler lines last night. Towed particularly heavy a while back, and the truck started leaving drops on the driveway. I had put on some generic braided -8 AN lines from Summit Racing when I built the motor. They did fine for years, but after...

Rebuild Filter head or buy new?

I used to think it was fine to get rid of the factory head if you had a FASS/AirDog. My truck is setup that way. My Suburban has an AirDog and the factory filter head. Got a batch of bad fuel, and the water separator on the AirDog didn't exactly work great. Drained about 1/2 cup of water out of...

    Lower Radiator Hose Help

I didn't realize there was an o-ring on the LBZ+ lower hose, but apparently there is. Apparently, there were 2 sizes used, so you probably just bought the wrong size: 2moBpvldRuk

    MAP Sensor reading low

From your description, I thought you added tunes at the same time as the parts. If the tune didn't change, it kind of eliminates that as the problem. You may want to pull the connector off the MAP sensor and verify the supply voltage matches the other sensors. I think the LLY is like the LB7...

    MAP Sensor reading low

Can you flash the stock tune back in and check the reading? You don't need to start the truck, just key on and see what it reads. That will tell you if the tune is the problem or not.

NEW Release!!!! LDS Premium LB7 Return Line Banjo Bolt

I'll be putting a set of these on whichever of my LB7s needs injectors next. I've switched everything to the Merchant extended Allen bolts, and they're better, but IMO a proper hex bolt is far superior. Really glad these are available now.

What did you do at work today?

Cancer sucks. Lost a good friend's dad last month to cancer. It was so sudden, whole process was barely more than a month from him being fine to gone. He was a great guy, helped us build a rollcage for a minivan (destruction derby kind of thing) not that long ago.

Neat article, with a glimmer of hope

If little to no soot is generated in the combustion process, most of the problems with EGR go away. Kind of like EGR on a gas engine, they never build up nearly as much crap in the intake as diesels with EGR do. So maybe EGR won't be so bad in this case?

    2020 hd

I've always loved the CC/LB trucks. Still not over the mirrors, but that does look like a nice rig. And I'm glad to hear the rear A/C vents are back. I never understood why they removed them after the GMT800. I got to ride in a friend's new gasser, and it had a slick backup camera setup. Does...
