    5speed- 6 speed conversion

Mike did the complete Suncoast kit in Sept. '07, along with a T/C and 6sp conversion. The 6sp isn't cheap but it makes the truck a lot more pleasant at highway speed. About 300rpm less and the engine seems to be loafing along. It drives beautifully and was definitely worth it to me. One...

    Garrett GTX4088r

Garrett will upgrade to GTX, but it isn't all that much cheaper than buying a complete new GTX turbo.

    Help me pick a turbo

Go west of SLC and hunt coyotes, what's there....desert and dirt roads. Maybe Wyoming or eastern Utah for prairie dogs and bounce around in the sage. Or just about anyplace in the middle of nowhere for chucks. The triples aren't a problem. One guy here runs triples, over 950hp, goes mid...

    Help me pick a turbo

You think the Salt Lake area is just paved streets? You think people in the Salt Lake area don't ever drive on dirt or desert roads? Go in any direction from Salt Lake and what do think is there?.........desert and dirt roads. You think SLC people never go north and that Idaho is just paved...

    Help me pick a turbo

The 475/stock is a good combination with a stock engine, EFI and an exhaust......a lot more responsive than just the stock turbo and much more fun to drive. The 480/366 combo drives really well also, very responsive and can make good power. In Colorado at altitude it's not the same as being...

    Which CP3 for the LML

He's right, this is a helluva deal. My Exergy (12mm) cost $2300, with core, a couple years ago.

    Which CP3 for the LML

My Floorit stroker pump lasted for 3 months and BANG! froze up completely on the Edge dyno. That was Oct. '12. Was promised a replacement and still don't have it, can't even reach him by phone.

    Robs tunes

Towing, 24mpg......the guy's full of crap. But Rob's tunes are very good. In Jan. 08 Nathan installed a 475 kit, Rob did EFI with a DSP5. Engine was stock with exhaust. Driving back from Boise on #3 tune the DIC said 22mpg.....hand calculated was 21.7mpg. Another trip of mostly 70mph...

    4" to 12" chrome tip

You can tell a truck is badass and fast by the the chrome exhaust tip. Bigger makes it faster and more badass. A 12" tip would have to be really badass and super fast. Or a 14yr old mentality.

BC connecting rods for the D Max

I know the results when they put Carillo and a couple others through the same tests they did with Howards. But I'm not gonna argue this. Think whatever you want. *** The build I'm about to do will probably have Carillos.

BC connecting rods for the D Max

The guy who developed the Howard rod is good friend. I know how they're made, also how they and the other brands were tested.

BC connecting rods for the D Max

Carillo is lightest but not the strongest. About the same as the others, which is plenty enough to not worry about them. The Howards is light and stronger by a good amount. The Oliver looks like a modified version of the Howard.

    LML Single or Compounds

Compounds are the way to go. They'll drive a lot nicer than one turbo big enough for the power you want. I can't see a 475/stock supplying enough air for 650-700hp. My first twin set had that combination and EFI, the big tune hp was around 550 with an otherwise stock engine. But also my LLY...

    M&H 390s vs Mickey Thompson 305 45 18

The M/Ts are a slicks with a couple grooves and stick well. They may be street legal but tread depth is only about 1/8". Looks to me like you run over anything at all and it would be easy to lose a tire. I change mine at the track. DOT legal or not I'd never drive them on the street.

    The build is a GO!

Randy built me an engine in '11, then recently another one through Industrial. As I remember the price was pretty comparable.

LLY: Broken Crank, need opinions on new build sheet

Not really "short order." That first race engine was put together on a budget, had de-lipped LB7's, uncoated, with about 140K miles. I saw them before being installed and the edge had a very large radius. They were 15:1 compression with a lot cut from the side of the bowl.....he says he took...

LLY: Broken Crank, need opinions on new build sheet

Definitely have it balanced. If you go with internal balancing it isn't cheap, $2000 - 2500.

LLY: Broken Crank, need opinions on new build sheet

Mine did 109 when it was dyno'ing about 545 at 2,000' higher elevation. The formulas say 108 = 575hp.
