thanks Kat, that's too easy............. ;) Jody

    LMM part throttle defuel

I've searched but haven't seen this one. I've got a part throttle defuel that I cannot figure out. It occurs at 45-55% throttle position or so, so accelerating aggressively. The defuel is zeroed out and disabled in the tcm tune. It does not defuel at all at WOT. It's fine at normal accelerating...

    LMM injector o-ring function

thanks Josh, now I can start enjoying the "twins"................ ;)

    LMM injector o-ring function

close........................ :) It seemed like it was quieter if I pushed a rag around the #5 (third one back on the passenger side) injector. So I removed the injector and could see it had a washer, but there was combustion leakage past it, and a bit of fuel residue on the valve cover around...

    LMM injector o-ring function

it's possible, I sure can't find it though. I'm still looking. I had the fenderwell out with it running, couldn't feel or hear any leaks. Put it up in the air on the lift running also, but you can barely hear it underneath. Sounds like it's coming from the valve cover area, passenger side, one...

    LMM injector o-ring function

when I started this post I never saw the copper washer; yes, that's definitely the sealing item. Since I've never seen an injector before swapping this engine I didn't look to see if all of them had their washers. I would assume they do as the old LBZ injectors all have them, and they don't just...

    LMM injector o-ring function

It sounds like it's a single cylinder that's loosing compression, pretty small amount but you can hear it with the hood up. It didn't do it when I first fired the engine, so somethings come loose. Seems like if it was a loose clamp or something with the twin kit it wouldn't have the on/off hiss...

    LMM injector o-ring function

I think you're right. Maybe it's a loose glowplug, doubt it though.

    LMM injector o-ring function

yeah, I've heard that before too, but this is different. For one, the a/c is completely off as I haven't charged the system yet. Two, it makes a sound of compression escaping all the time. You can only hear it with the hood up, sounds like someone pushing the end of a valve stem on an inflated...

    LMM injector o-ring function

none of it is particularly difficult, just time consuming. Since I had to completely strip both engines it was like a puzzle getting all the brackets and hard lines back, as in some cases they have to go in a particular order or the next item can't be bolted on. I am glad I did it though, as I...

    LMM injector o-ring function

I searched and found threads on LB7's and they said the o-ring didn't seal compression. I'm wondering if that's different on an LMM. I just finished up the engine swap on my truck; bought a low mileage LBZ engine and swapped everything from the LMM to that, including the injectors. My local...

    Found a cummins....

Dodge's make good hotrods, no doubt. But the Dmax is so much nicer in my opinion; better tone (V8), much quieter, nicer ride, more comfortable, etc. and can still be modded a ton. Me personally, I'd never do a Cummins. I like the refinement and comfort of the Duramax, along with still being...

    removing firewall pad

I think you can remove it in the truck since you can tear it up, not caring if it can be re-installed. There are several plastic clips that hold it, but they un-thread by hand. Thanks guys, I'm leaving it out. I am ready to re-install the engine, probably tomorrow. I'll start a new thread...

    removing firewall pad

lost a piston, best guess. Haven't pulled it apart, but one dead cylinder and a lot of crankcase pressure. Still ran, drove it home, but gray smoke out the pipe. Just finished swapping the LMM stuff over to an LBZ motor I bought. Jody

    removing firewall pad

when the motor puked oil it ruined the firewall pad. I removed it and ordered a new one which I have here. But after cleaning the firewall I much prefer the clean look of no pad. Plus you gain a bit more room back there for bolts, etc. My question is, has anyone removed it and noticed...

    Diamond Eye downpipe install problem

yes, the orientation of that clamp for the downpipe is set to "assembly line" specs, not "I may have to remove this later with the body on" specs............ :D Hardest part of the install for me, especially with the nbs truck with the engine shoved even further back into the firewall. You'll...

    Got smoked by an CTS-V

A good friend of mine is a driver for GM and did 200 back to back 1/4 mile runs in one at Phoenix AZ for testing. In street trim made 100 passes, ran 12.20's to 12.40's with literally no stops between runs other than to drive back up to the starting line and stage. They then mounted drag radials...

    108.5 mph in the 1/4

that's what makes me feel much better with this MPI twin kit I'm putting on the new motor; egt's are real low from what I've heard. Jody

    108.5 mph in the 1/4

did a boosted 4X launch, but wheel-hopped badly. Full 70 psi in the tires and no lowered t-bars plus a stickier surface than where I datalog......... it's never hopped on the street with the same launch. There was a lot more in it I'm sure, but I never made it back to the track before it...
