Found a cummins....

Well ive been on cummins forum for a while and theres a guy with a white quad cab short bed 4x4 that has MPI twins and has lots more potential. He dynoed at 691 and he doesnt even have dual cp3's on it and just 90 hp injectors so it could get a lot faster. It has a fully built gorend trans and ive been talkin to the guy for a couple days since hes been lookin into getting a dmax. Well were thinkin on trading plus me giving him some cash. I want big power but I dont think I have the money if my motor blows with a dmax, i understand dodges have lots of other problems but after talking to the guy he keeps his truck in perfect shape. Amsoil fluids throughout it, always lets it warm up and cool down, never seen egts over 1300, at least this is what i was told. But I know this truck is a really nice truck and I like the cummins alot. Were gonna take a look at each others trucks and see what we think after but what do you guys think about it? I know all yall love the dmax and so do I but with as honest opinion as possible tell me if its a bad idea.

Its a good deal. How much cash are u giving him with your truck? Also is your truck paid for?

Dodge's make good hotrods, no doubt. But the Dmax is so much nicer in my opinion; better tone (V8), much quieter, nicer ride, more comfortable, etc. and can still be modded a ton.

Me personally, I'd never do a Cummins. I like the refinement and comfort of the Duramax, along with still being able to haul ass. But there's no denying they can be modded to fly.

My trucks paid for and he wants anywhere from 5-7k with my truck. He has 17k in performance alone with less than 3000 miles on the twins and tranny. He doesnt need to sell so the price is a little steep but its the exact truck i would get if i went to a cummins

Thanks man.... I think I might.... its defintely got potential and its fast as it sits. I know it will last a while too, only thing that makes me hesistant is the interior of the dodges.

True. I know the cummins isnt invinceable or anything but I dont think it'll let go anytime soon. And ill be saving for motor work. Nothings decided yet but its a possibility. Its a good opportunity on a fast truck so I dont wanna pass it up without thinkin it through

The cummins is way easier to work on though, and parts arent near as expensive

Take the 5-7k in cash you would give him and save alittle more cash for a few months(or however long) and buy rods/turbo/machine work/stock cut pistons/misc gaskets and build your dmax, then walk all over that thing.

Ya same truck. One pic is of the setup he had and the other are his friends rims and tires. He also now has the mirros colormatched which i think looks clean.
