McRat said about Casper "you can't buy memories, you have to make them". That applies to everything, the customer that brought this jackstand in knows it can be fixed here or he wouldn't have brought it and he knows he can buy a new set cheaper than fixing this one. He said 5 words that made me want to fix it for him to the best of my ability. He said "they belonged to my dad". I should have wanted to fix it and give the customer what they wanted instead of trying to get him a new set made overseas. I learned something from him this week and that is give the customer what they want even if you have a cheaper solution. He ask me to beef it up and do the other one too. I pray that my kids respect me enough to where they think about me the way this man thinks about his dad when I'm gone. I know I respect my dad this way and he's still here.

I've been there.. though I don't find it disrespectful to let the customer know there's other options.
Definitely respect fixing stuff on sentimental value.
yup, x2
BTW Slim, did you put some kind of added structure up the insides of the uprights? id be worried about the steel being weak now after bending, heating and rebending it. thats assuming hes going to put heavy loads on them. hell of a job bringing them back though!
Drilled and tapped some holes in 304 stainless for a customer who did the lathe work themselves. I noticed the chatter in the bore and looked at the print and wondered how they held the tolerance with it looking like this. Then I measured it and figured out they don't know how to read prints either, whew. Looks like they may have tried a straight knurl tool to try and tighten it up, lol. #2 looks a little better but it's still to big.
