Day 1, Week 1, Round 2 of Candito.

Rough day in the gym after a 9 hr drive back from NM. Let me tell you guys how good a tight lifting belt felt across my sunburned belly in the bottom of a squat...

Squats 275x4x6
Deads 335x2x6

Feels good to be back. I think I'll hit 350 squat and 300 bench this time through or next. :woott:

Did something to my back last Wednesday. Low and not muscle fatigue been going easy at work and gym. Been stretching as much as I can. I felt 75% better today until about 4:30, when I sat down at home about 6:30 I had pain down my legs when I went to get back up.

Everyone keeps telling me to go to the chiropractor but I've never been so I don't want to. Seems like everyone I know that goes goes multiple times a month to get "freshened up"

On a side note at the gym today I did, flat bench 225@3x5
Squats 45 lb@3x10
Calf raises 90@3x12

And I complained a lot rofl
I hate being hurt, I feel like a huge puss

IMHO when you get pain going down your legs it's time to go see a doctor and at least get an xray. Disc issues cause those symptoms.

Talked to my mom about it who is a nurse, she didn't seem overly concerned. However I'm starting to think your right, it feels worse than it should

Let me rephrase pain down my legs.. Not shooting pain, kinda like I trained legs to hard but feels more inside than muscle.

Nothing wrong with seeing a good chiropractor;) Spine health is key to training with heavy weights. However a bad one can do more damage than good. A good one will want to take x-rays and look you over thoroughly before any adjustments are made.

I use chiro. and massage as part of my training.

Psyatic(however the hell you spell it lol) nerves man. I get them feelings lots. I stretch my ass off. I hate it but I feel so much better after. But every now and then I go to a back specialist (brian and spine guys) and they make sure I'm ok. I never do a chiropractor as they never cray me to see what they are moving. It only takes 1 wrong oops to make you wheelchair racer

Back day.
3 warm ups
335x10
365x5x2
385x5
405x5

Seeing how my last max on deads was 405. Id say my max is up lol. That's my first set of reps above 400 pounds. Belts getting broke in, working in the fifth hole now and loving it. Alternate grip with chalk and my belt

Did later pull downs and rows and pull ups to but my deads are the only thing on my mind right now

Deadlifts are progressing nicely.

I can't wait to squat this week. That belt is a big game changer. Just starting to turn a few heads at the gym. Felt pretty awesome. There's a big fire under my ass on deads and squat now

Just don't end up like me, I can barely do a body weight squat right now.

Did legs somewhat today, as much as I could do without back pain.

Leg ext 5 sets of 15
Calf raises 5x15
Leg curls 5x15
Lunges 5x10
Stair stepper for 5 min at medium pace
Elliptical 5 min
Treadmill 5 min
Core work for about 10 min

Focused on strict form today with everything. Back feels better today than it has yet. Still probably going to go get it checked out as it still has a hitch in it.

My brother hasn't done deads or squats in 3 weeks. He's sticking to the machines to

Funny little story on my dips. I have known a fella by the name of Ben Brent for awhile now. He is a multi time world champion powerlifter and a IPF world and national ref. Suffice to say he knows his sh*t to say the least. Anyway I start doing my warm up on dips and he comes over to offer a tip. Ben says "your plenty strong with a normal dip", eyeing the 100 pounder I had lined up. Ben tells me to reverse my grip and just do body weight to start. They were hard and about all I wanted with BW and being sick. They engage the sh*t out of your outer pec and front delt which as he mentioned is where my sticking point is on bench (the transition from delt/pec to tricep). Also he offered some tips on straight bar tricep extensions, "flex the wrist at the bottom, it works the inner tri"

So onto the rest of this wo...
dips reverse grip
5x10 BW

Dumbell row
110x4x8
Lat pull down
160x10
170x10
180x8
190x6
200x3
Face pulls
125x4x10
tricep ext. with exaggerated wrist extension at the bottom.
150x4x10

So 3 hours later... Alot of BS'ing with Ben. I was done wrecking myself. Even being sick, I still feel very strong, so I think my training is solid. And it's not every day you get to chat with a multi world champion/world record holder:thumb: He also was very impressed with my bench press, that was super nice:hug:

Here is Ben Squatting 225 cold no warm up at 77 years old, oh ya and he had his left knee replaced 3 years ago:thumb:
