Burn Down, how long have you been working with that 6 week candito action? How do you like it?

Going on 5 months now... I really like the structure and rep ranges. You really have to push your optional deadlift days to get your Deadlift to go up. My training partner and I didn't catch that the first couple cycles and my deads really stalled, once I figured that out it's been steadily climbing towards that elusive 500 pull...

It has you Squatting, Benching & Deadlifting a couple times a week at least... I think that was key in getting my squat to go up.

Mick's Program was the absolute hardest training program I have ever done in my life... Being a rookie to powerlifting I made a few mistakes and didn't capitalize on my full potential during that program. I will try it again here soon though, I think I'm experienced enough to recognize when I'm over my head now:D

My meet is this weekend & It's my first one in the Masters 1A division... Hoping for some really good lifts. I will do a break down of pretty much everything since last May to the results of this meet. I am very curious to see how much I gained in 7-8 months.

Creatine just makes me feel bloated and heavier. Strength was never really there IMO.

Supplements, other than PW stuff cause I am a crack fiend, has always been IMO the fasicnation of hard gainers and teenage kids. $300 of supps in the kitchen and perfect timed pre/peri/post shakes, but then, a workout that consists of benching/curls.

Its not magic powder, just like gear, you still gotta put in the work.

Did legs today since I missed yesterday... Squats, leg curls, leg ext, calf raises, and finished with deadlift/ abs. Deadlift - 145x5, 235x5, 325x5, 375 5 sets of 5.

Friday I pulled 425x1.. I've done that a few different times. It's hella heavy though.

Gonna look into programs again. Getting bored of having no direction. Hope to start eating right next week. But I've said that for the last month. Just never have time to do meal prep for the next week.

425 is nothing to be ashamed of... 98% of the guys at my gym couldn't pull that:thumb:

Nah I'm pretty proud of it.. None of the other guys I lift with can get past 350.

Had one try 425 Friday after I did it, he about blew a nut out and never moved it.

500 is just a very appealing number

And I weigh between 192-197..

Nobody really strong at my gym either. People look at me all crazy when I do the weight I do. I weigh between 182-185. There is only one guy that is just a super beast at my gym. He has been working out for 20 years.

Training age is an interesting thing to look at. Don't you miss the days of linear strength gains? Back when you didn't know you couldn't lift it, so you could...

Now I have fought for nine months to put 12 pounds on my snatch.

Using bench press as our "bench mark". It is amazing how fast I went from a bench max of 135 to 285. Now I fight for 6 months for 5 maybe 10 more pounds.

Took 1 yearish from 135 to 285, now I'm approaching 18 months of traing since hitting 285 and now my natural unehanced bench is between 320-335 depending on the day(who knows what really)

I use dumbbells a lot versus the bar. Thoughts on strength and hypertrophy vs the two?

For beginners it may matter, but for those of us who have chalked up a time or two I don't think it is important. I only use dumbbells when I'm alone for safety reasons. I usually lift with a partner because I like someone getting in my face and telling me what he did to my mother last night when I start to struggle. Some people don't like that rah rah stuff though.

Again, like the supplements thing, if you can put your weight up for one more rep or five more pounds then you are making progress and don't need to sweat the small stuff like what shape the shit you are lifting is.

If you really want to dive in, I think being able to load more weight is better...so I'll stick with the barbell stuff. On the other hand, some guys are die hard dumbbell fans and may have way better lateral stability than I do...but I don't miss lifts due to anything other than my inability to push load in a straight line away from the center of the earth.

EDIT: specific lifts that need all that control of the weight may benefit much more from dumbbell work. I think anything overhead is where dumbbells shine. My military press stalled until I picked up more dumbbells. I struggled with head positioning and shoulder engagement after the bar was above my head, using odd objects like kettlebells and dumbbells forced me to focus on that and its taking off again.

I work out alone, and use Dumbbells for safety reasons as well. I love piling the weight on a barbell though!

Barbells for me... Dumbells are Acc. stuff for squat, bench, deadlift. I use the squat rack safety bars if Im benching alone. When I set up my arch the bar hits my chest, if I relax and deflate my chest it will sit on the safety bars.

I feel you need a combination of both Hypertrophy and strength training. Most of us are not going to get stronger with out gaining some mass. How much of one or the other will depend on your goals... Side walk crackin Motha Fukas Hypertrophy, Powerlifters a mixture of both, Danty Oly guys mostly strength:D

So we all know I'm a preworkout addict (just kidding) (but seriously I love pre). So I ordered a new brand my buddy was telling me about. I just opened it and this is what all I got.. I've never got anything like this from my normal supplement orders..
