Another dumb question..

How tight does everyone tighten their belt while lifting and where?

I usually have it tight enough that if I flex my core then it restrains me. But not uncomfortably tight. And I always put it just a bit above my hip bones.

If you can breath, its too loose.

Yep, you want it pretty friggin tight... Height wise is kinda preferential, I'm mid I guess.

Corbin if you get a stiff belt like the toro or Matts Inzer they are going to love those danty pelvic bones if you wear the belt very low:D

I wear mine far low, and yes, pepper your angus for some nasty looking bruises when it works your body in to the belt.

A nice tight belt is a wonderful feeling when you walk out a 1RM, but, if you are still new to it... make sure you have someone to get you out of it afterwords. ;)

Hit the gym last night, had bills to be done Tuesday and that took forever, got stuck on the phone with the damn cable company.

Squats
5x225
5x255
5x315
3x355
5x405
3x355

At this point, I had three different people ask for the rack so just went and sat over in the stretch area.

Did some ab stuff, prob 5 sets of 15 and then finally snagged a bench

Negative, did get to watch the knee bend 405x1 attempt by the guy who took my rack and then the "wow that made my lower back hurt from just watching" 495xfail dead attempt. :roflmao:

I may not go heavy but I'm all about good form. I like knowing I can do 165 with near perfect form for 3-5 sets of 12 and have zero back pain from it...but I did learn I need a belt if I want to go more weight. The discs in my lower back just don't care for much past 165.

I may never get my squats or deads over 250 or 200 but such are some things in life

Its very easily paralleled to the guy with a compound setup and a stock trans, may make great numbers but it ain't lasting for long.

You mean compounds and stock trans won't work together

Pfft. I had TWINS and a stock trans for awhile... Oddly enough it never limped. But I did limp it pre twins with a bastard stack of doom:D

I'm on a 2 week break from the gym, maybe more... Lifts are stalled and my CNS is fried. I never take much more than 5 days off from the gym, so we'll see how long I can go. I plan on doing some mobility work and cardio but no heavy lifting. Wife is in contest prep mode so I'm loosely following her diet.

Any advice on trying to tone up while maintaining strength? Going on a cruise in the end of Jan and figure looking halfway decent wouldn't be bad.

Yeah I just hit 240 pounds yesterday, I feel like a beast but will be wanting to cut out. I hate feeling weak when I try to cut, that's the main reason I never do it. Maybe im doing it wrong? Not that I have tried very hard, I just don't want to lose gains
