Does it get a graphics wrap at some point?

Can you remind us again what the goals are for this boat with this engine combo?

And out of curiosity, what made the owner decide to do duramax engines? Are they just crazy diesel folks like us or what?

Ya know I'm starting to think the Aussie's are possibly bigger gear heads than us... We were just speaking yesterday about the Holden vs Ford rivalry they have in sports cars.

A 100mph diesel cruiser had been a dream of his for several years, but no one over there was willing to tackle it. I was first person to say Hell Ya!!

Choice of hull is what ya might call a sleeper. Baja has never been considered a high performance design. More in line with a Mustang vs a Lambo in the boating world. This boat was likely the fastest Baja ever built, with top end around 96mph according to people who knew it. Previous owner posted a speedo recall at 114mph, to which I ask "Behind what model truck??"

This boat rolled out of the factory with twin 900SC and Mercury #6 drives. In 2004 that was big factory power, and your only other performance option was tipple 700SC's in this boat. Tripp's are cool but typically slower than twins on inboards. Both designs drank fuel faster than my buddies chugs beers. And requires 1000amps of power just to hear the radio..

So taking what we learned from the OG 21' PPE boat, doubled it, and added some upgraded driveline parts. Now we should have a 100mph+ top end, 3-4mpg overall economy, and ability to sneak up on those unsuspecting Lambo owners who will say, "that can't be fast cause it's a Baja with diesels..."

Why else would you scap these >>

i thought it started as a Baja 32' hull ?

Looked shorter with all those graphics didn't it? Boats are like snow skis, longer = faster.

Owners daughter is graphic design student, so gonna turn her loose on it. Will likely remain pretty laid back however, sticking to a black/white theme, and maybe a blue Duramax logo in there somewhere to match the engines.

Not likely to make Cumberland run, too much crap to do in 30 days. Thinking maybe the little Ohio River Run in Cinci, if things progress nicely.

If we miss that, thinking we might do a Pittsburgh to New Orleans run this fall. Some old record time from the mid 1900's I'd like to lay claim to. Boat is getting shipped out of FL, so why not deliver by water.. ;)

this is where it all starts to come together and we all buy plane tickets:happy2::happy2:

I used to be a Cruisers Yachts, regal, Sunseeker, Fairline dealer and i always chased the guys threatening to trade in their go-fast boats for a cruiser.

My guy just traded in his big Euro cruiser for this smaller go fast project...

I flew to Calli a few weeks back to tune on a customers LBZ powered 30' Sleekcraft. Swapped out an 800hp BBC for a bone stock Dmax. He's currently dialing in some props, but couldn't be happier with the performance upgrade.

Also a brand new all aluminum Dmax jet boat project hitting the water soon up in ID. That's the one I'm really looking forward to take a ride in..

Test fit the engine cover yesterday before sending it to paint.

Engine bay still needs a little more cleaning up, but thinking these Duramax twins should look pretty sweet under glass..

More pretty stainless steel.

Typically one to make fun of oversized exhaust tips, now have 4x 5" dia thru-hull units with flappers. Thinking I shouldn't have sold those SS MBR stacks outa my old pickup so cheaply. Those would have fit perfectly...
