Mack, the diagnostic port allows monitoring and diagnostics; it also will allow you to flash calibration changes onto the ECM - so GM can load updates on. But the factory calibration cannot be read from the ECM through the OBD-II port.

Because the ECMs were made to no be able to read the calibration through the OBD II port if a company hacks in and reads the OS a different way they leave themselves open to a lawsuit from GM for stealing their "intellectual property".

I think there is an argument of reverse engineering to be made if someone hacks the ECM to read the calibrations. Which would make it not illegal to do, now if the cal is obtained via a copy of it during a flash from tis2web (the GM programming interface) that constitutes theft and breach of contract.

Hmmm interesting. This is kind of funny as I spoke to someone at PPE about this very thing. I think you might have your information incorrect.

This is what I was told.

Yes the hot race tuner has been discontinued. However the Hot+2 E.T. Race is still available for Racing Engines.

The last I heard about H&S is the two owners left the country in fear of being prosecuted by the EPA. I also heard something about SEMA having to step in to help them out (H&S).

Well I hope you are right about PPE. Mike L. has been saying someone was going to Canada because of the EPA putting pressure on them, so you might be on to something

I just dont get how they can regulate people who make a "RACE ONLY" product. I would think just like everyone else you send a waiver and it becomes the person using its fault.

There is the catch right there!! They cannot pick us out one by one..

BUT, they CAN regulate the companies enough to run them out of buisiness or make them stop selling products for it..

They have been back dooring us for years.. Offroad area closures, (emissions standards on cal. sand cars? ) , cash for clunkers, gun bans, stop of military surplus sales, jail without trial, BUT the FEDS are OK with illegal Immagration...
