Why hasn't the original owner replied or said sorry or responded in any way? Unless it sold for half what he was asking, it shoulda been in much better shape for the money spent. Not so hacked together.

So why is this 711 guy not been here posting his answers to his butcher job?

Because he got his money and ran. :(

I am glad the truck is coming around Phil and hope you'll be enjoying it in no time. :thumb:

I sure hope for your sake that the engine/fuel system was what it was advertised to be, but the more you post about all these other issues, Im starting to really worry.....

I hate that this hobby/sport has attracted so many unscrupulous/dishonest people. It sucks.
Trust me that is a big concern of mine. I know the injectors are big, and it came with dual pumps with a spare ii 85% cp3, and I have seen a bunch of pics of the inside of the engine, at least I think it was this engine.

Just to clarify a something because I don't want this thread to go in the wrong direction.

I did not start this thread with the purpose of calling the builder a rip off artist, because I do not think that he is. I think that he built the truck to what he felt was an acceptable level and sold it while still believing that. As we all know, one person's acceptable level of finish can be wildly different from another's, especially if they are building something for themselves. You may cut corners on your own vehicle that you would never do on a customers. the amount of mistakes made on this truck are staggering, and while most are a few dollars or a little time spent too repair, as a whole they paint a very bad picture to the quality of the truck.

The purpose of this is to document my own trucks build as I had more than a few people ask me about it since I have bought it. Am I disappointed in it? Absolutely because I feel it was misrepresented and the mistakes made in the build have cost me thousands of dollars in less than a thousand miles of ownership. Do I hope this is used as a learning experience for anyone who reads this? Of course, both about who to trust and that not every "fabricator" out there actually is. Hopefully those among us who do not have the ethical attitude which would have kept them from selling something like this realize that it will get out there, and once people know there is little you can do about it.

All I can do is move on and get it right. All along I have said I just want a 10 second pass, I still intend to accomplish that goal.

Bravo Phil!!! I hope the future treats you better than the past. you deserve better, life is is really only 5% what happens to you and 95% the way you chose to react to it. I can only hope that seeing how you handled this has made me a better man.:thumb:

Truck is home. Now to get the rest of it sorted. Have either a boost or drive leak I need to find, need to redo the downpipe, replace an injector return fitting that is leaking, among about fifty other things.

Thanks for the help evan, trans feels solid.

X3. To many young punk kids anymore. They buy a diesel. Run there mouth on the forums and facebook groups. Make it where the knowledgeable guys give up trying to help. Then get out of the diesel scene a year later. I remember when forums was to help each other out and learn new tips. Now everything turns into a argument and D*** measuring contest.

True story... This is why I ditched the forums for the longest time. This site seems to be very informative and doesn't have the "how do I make my truck smoke" BS.

Getting back on track... I'm sorry to hear about your truck, but now you get to do things the way you would like to. The expensive stuff (billet parts) are already in and now you can change the "bolt ons" or "glue ons" in this instance:thumb:

Found a couple of things today while checking for boost leaks. Discovered that a tiny spot of weld blew out of the intake crossover between the 66s and 72. I threw a piece of boot and clamp over it for the time being. This didn't stop the screech under boost so I kept looking and found that the t4 flange on the top 366 is leaking.

Apparently some weld slag got into the threads and the bolt was bottoming out early. I shortened the bolt a tad, but it looks like the flange is going to need to be machined flat.

I already cleaned the gasket off but it was half sooted and missing the corner.
