How many guys have this problem-
Cruising down the highway at say 50mph
Mash the peddle to pull out and pass
Wait for 2 seconds for it to downshift
Then wait another 1/2 second for everything to remember wtf is what supposed to be doing and then away it goes

I have tried several different things to try and get this worked out but I can't figure it out. Tuning in general is somewhat a difficulty for me at the best times but in 2 years of doing it, this one has got me completely beat. I've heard people say that your trans tune needs to be matched to the ecm tune but I have no idea how to do that or why either. This may be my problem.......

So, lets get this out for discussion so maybe I can get some idea's on how to fix it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has ever had this problem!!!

Very good question!! I've often thought about this myself. I have came to the fact that it's just because of the fly by wire stuff. Maybe if there was still cables attached to everything the truck wouldn't do that. I figure it's simply the time everything involved needs to process the info given. I hope someone can tell me i'm wrong and way to make it faster.

try easing into the throttle, results are much better :D

x2. If you roll into it instead of mashing it you have a nice flow. But on a side note, when i stomp mine from a roll, it blows some smoke downshifts and takes off nice.

I beat this by locking out 5th then mashing it and unlocking it at the same time. I thinkthe problem is the torque coonverter unlocking takes some time. Yes if you roll into it a little slower you will get the hard accel. as boost builds

or manually downshift :) a little bump in fuel pressure can also help with throttle response at lower rpms

I have the same issue if not rolling into it but that is due to flooding the turbo with too much fuel. It will literally bog down for a few seconds while mashed at 55 (bottom of 5th), puking smoke at 5 lbs of boost, let off just a bit, then jump to 30 or so lbs of boost @ 2200 rpm. Half a second later I'm doing 90. I was very surprised how it can produce so much boost at such a low rpm. Prob. due to being under an extreme load.

x2 on rolling into it....it keeps the egt's down more and much smoother....kinda freaks me out mashing it instead while passing a car.

TLIQ and base torque can help some with just being able to stomp on it and have the truck get right to it ( on the 7 anyway ) , about as much as i will devuldge though :D :poop: :villagers:

I agree and I believe that this is where the problem might be.

The roll into it thing is gay IMO and not a fix for the problem. I want it downshift right now and then haul on it.

:stupid::hello:

Nothing for us EFI reh-tards?
Or should i take the TLIQ and base torque tables from my main tune and put them in all my DSP tunes? Does it work like that?

I don't know about rolling into the throttle I think its a mind trick on ya'll. I just hit TH and wood it and it goes just fine, but I know its a turbo diesel not a gasser.

Should be simple enough to do some logging and see what helps.

Well fill your boots then. I don't see the point in logging it-except to show EFI on paper what it is doing. It's a SOP thing-it either gets fixed or doesn't. Personally, I don't think the tables are there to fix this.

So far, I take it nobody with an M or Z have found a fix for this either........

Maybe it's in the non-existent hidden tables...

Mine does it too, It's annoying. But like said to deal with it I put the truck into 4th and T/H then hammer on her and put her back into drive.

Rolling into is not an option when your lined up next to another truck, period. Its just to hard to control yourself
