Waste gate showed up today. Did a little messing around with springs and pressure to see where it open. Think I will leave the 18 psi spring in an run no regulator for now to see how it is. Seems the 18psi spring actually starts to open around 22 psi. If it opens too early I will probably throw in a few more springs before using a regulator.

tracking number shows my new converter is supposed to be here friday. Tonight is my Friday at work so I will probably get the wastegate installed tomorrow then probably take work off next Friday so I can swap converters. Hopefully I get my freaking turbo back tomorrow too. Exciting week for sure.

Finally got my turbo back! This thing is awesome, absolutely love it. As far as easy driving goes, you can't tell a difference between this and my old s472, but trying to stage is and whole different story with my stock stall precision ml. Luckily my suncoast 1055 2500 rpm stall converter will be here tomorrow!

I left the tcm tune alone (stock shift points) and this 80mm was a dog, every time it shifted you fell right back under the turbo so I did some tweaking and raised all the shifts to 3700 rpm and it's night and day difference. I also had to change WOT down shifts so it would down shift and lot earlier and that also made a world of difference. With those RPM changes, this s480 comes to life quicker than my s472 ever did. I love this setup! I decided to not install the wastegate until the motor is actually built. I don't really see a need for it right now.

Here's little video of how it sounds...as far as easy driving, it doesn't sound any different than the s472 did, but WOT screams compared...

Got a video of a 30mph pull on how well it spools? Or how smokey it is

I don't have any lower pulls but I can get some later. No smoke once spooled but on spool up she fuels hard. I changed the WOT downshifts so it takes right off now at just about any speed.

Keep in mind that you will also have drive pressure pushing on the valve trying to open it along with boost pushing on the diaphragm.

I realized that after doing a little more testing, decided I'd run a regulator from the get go to try and keep it from opening prematurely.

Fedex delivery isn't looking so good for today like i had planned on. The tracking info says expected delivery for today but it also hasn't updated since wednesday morning. A little bummed, but it is still fairly early so we will see.

That sucks. Take the day off work to swap converters only to have the truck down for the weekend due to shipping.

The truck was only back together for half a day since my turbo ended up taking way longer than expected, now she's down again. Oh well, I can still go into work.

I work right by the warehouse where it is at right now. I put it on hold so I can pick it up right after work Monday morning.
