well, at least there is no "removable" o-ring per se...maybe there is one deep inside that doesnt normally come out but somehow it came out when you took it apart? The "quick connect" rad hoses ive done dont have any obvious o-ring that I saw right away.

You should feel a little click or "pop" when it seats properly. If you didnt feel that, you arent pushing hard enough...its not gonna break. ;)

Ill take some pictures so you can see whats going on. One side is grooved and the other side has the notches so they like fit together indexed, and I have them mated correctly. Im gonna try again, going home for lunch now.

Ya youre right, that is just the diagram I get when I go through GMPD or PZO haha.

Im going to reseat it a bunch and try it in a little, Im home now. I just primed the fuel system.

Otherwise, if I cant get it I figure I have 2 options.

Get it running, drive it the mile or so to the chevy dealer and say fix my radiator.

Or, apply lots of RTV sealant, shove hose on, put clip in, dry.

I would not RTV it. First of all, RTV would last about 5 minutes in that application. Then you'll be stuck with a coolant leak AND a bunch of gooey RTV crapping everything up and making it a PITA to fix the right way.

After spending 30 grand on the motor why would you do a hack job attaching the radiator hose when its probably not more than a 5 minute fix????

Guy not to butt in, but the cluster will not show oil pressure when cranking. The oil pressure signal gets to the cluster via the low speed GMLAN bus, not a dedicated wire. When cranking, almost every module in the truck (including the IPC) is told to 'shut up' and go to sleep mode (to reserve maximum electrical power for starting the engine)...then, only when the engine actually starts, everything wakes up again and the IPC receives the initial ECT, oil pressure, fuel level, and ign voltage signal stream over the GMLAN bus...

HOWEVER If he has a tech 2 and CANdi module, Im 95% sure the ECM will still broadcast a live data stream of everything (including oil pressure) while cranking, even though the IPC is powered down...

ben

No worries Ben, jump in any time.

I didn't mean to imply it would show oil pressure while cranking, just that it would show oil pressure "before" cranking and then to crank it while it had oil pressure.

If its done thats a possibility. This radiator hose is most definitely in correctly, and not making a seal. either something goes in the line, or something is messed up, but both look perfect. Very frustrated.

Motor is primed and full of oil. Damn was that bolt tight.

When I get home if it still wont hold water I dunno... Im going to start it.

Does anyone have any ideas what kind of sealant I could use? It is definitely seating in there and the clip fully fitting into its groove so I dont know what the issue could be.

I want to just put a bead of sealant inside on the mating surface and then around the lower rad outlet and let it cure.

Otherwise... anyone know a part number on the lower rad hose? I could buy it at the dealer and see if anything inside the hose is different or if I am missing a gasket or anything.

OR, if anyone has an LBZ/LMM Rad apart and could look at their hose or outlet and see whats up.........?

GoodWrenchTech on DP says that there is an oring that goes in the hose side of the connection.

Henry or others, can you get me a part number?

Matt screw the GM PN... go to harbor freight and get a set metric neoprene(sp) o rings... and find one that works

I am telling you, I am pretty sure it has an oring in it...

How the hell would plastic against plastic just seal up in a wet condition?

Its kinda like the plastic tube from the IC...

X2 I think it is like the connection for the intake pipes. Take it off and look for an o ring that fits in there. maybe even a small vacum belt might work too
