Might have to look into a 472. My 366 is not as responsive as the stocker. I thought a 400 frame was slow.

a s4 will not respond like stock put a stock turbo truck next to a s4 and the stocker will leave it from a dig everytime....

my 66mm spools faster then a s4 does

I raced my buddy who had a 475 with mine still stock ihi and I could kill him to 70 both trucks stock fuel max effort tunes he did around 540 and I had 515 so it took him that long to catch up

I have the luxury of driving a stock turbo truck, and a modified truck. The stocker spools lightning fast. My Danville 4094 billet didn't hold a candle. Even my s475 o/stock doesn't spool as fast as just a stock turbo.

OK. Least I'm not the only one thinking this is odd

From a dig, it spools like the IHI

However when people are talking about lag being bad, that's when we are rolling down the road with the TC locked and roll into the throttle.

55mph TC locked and me rolling into the throttle=loooooong time to spool lol

My gauge moves pretty slow to 25psi then slams over 40 instantly

To me lag is if I'm going from a dead stop. The time from hitting the throttle to when turbo lights. kinda like a 2 strike with the power band.

Was always told a S400 frame turbos take longer to light cause the shaft is bigger and heavier causing slower spool.

My s4 lights really fast from a dead stop. Way faster than the 4094vvt I had. I'll race any stock turbo truck from a 0 boost start and I bet I win. It's the highway that kills you. I always drive in Manual and keep it in 4th around town. A little TCM tuning does wonders for the highway. I dont let mine shift into 6th until 73mph and the TCC doesnt lock until 62mph.

You should win the race but no way a s4 spools faster I've never ridden in a truck with a s4 that could. Only setup I've seen spool as fast is trents triples he had on his tow truck with a ihi

Tuning plays massive roles in all this just saying from all the trucks ive been in and mine personally

Dustin at diesel addiction is one of the best in the industry when it comes to tuning a big single my truck never fells like im down on power highway speeds and i wanna pass some one i roll into the throttle and one of 2 things at 55-70 it down shifts and takes off at 70+ the turbo lights and takes off but also dustin tuned my truck from the seat and made lots of little changes as he went dont expect results from canned tunes like that

What rpm at wot are you guys with the single s472/475 shifting at?
3700-3800 seems good for staying on top the charger but the higher rpm comes wiyh a good bit of drive preassure if I run a towable turbine housing.
Shift points and a/r?

My 473 is laggy as hell from a get go for about 10ft then its gone but does not come close to spooling as fast as my stocker.

I love reading about turbo lag. It's like dick measuring, everyone churches it up...

It's almost like some people think they have a majic turbo compared to the next guy running the same setup.

I can go wot from a stop. Truck smokes but rolls 20 ft then lights and blows 33" tires away. Iirc my stock truck did not do that.
Now if the tc is locked in 5th at 55 mph and I crowd the throttle. Well that is just a slow rolling licomotive that makes an aeful mess.

Im sure a lot of it has to do with if the truck was a lb7 or a later model. Seemed like the vvt in my lmm was slower then the non in my lb7.
