I did the SC 1057 with Joe Webb and Ron in '06. It was called the McRat converter as it was built for Pat.

Wow Mike is there any of the great parts for the Allison you didn't have a hand in?
I have really been intrigued by your K converter.
My truck is a daily driver I do use it to pull around a 14,000 lbs excavator would like to try my hand at dragging a sled and do an occasional 1/4 mile jaunt.
I plan on 600-650 rwhp with a 475 over stock set up.
What would your converter recommendations be?

I have been fortunate to be friends with a lot of smart people.
Yes there are great parts out there that did not include me. We have some very smart people in the diesel community.
For your converter application, I would recommend a SC1058 or my R converter. Think the SC 1055 would be fun and it does tow well, but it might be a little too loose. My K is a lot of fun and Verlon Southwick tows with his, but I don't recommend it for that.

Have the carbon clutches in c3 been known to do that enough to stay away? Or is that a clearance issue? Asking because my buddy bought a lbz truck that has a SC gmax kit, back when I think the carbon clutches were being used a lot.

I know Mike said to not use, but its already built should we change it, if its beat on?

The 1 sided carbalite Alto's do just fine in the C4 but not in the C3's. The 2 sided carbalites hold a lot of power and are fine in the C3's.

What are the TOP of the line clutches at the moment, with no/little regard to $? Suncoast's Raybestos spec C1's, C2's, and pinwheel c3's and c4's?

There is no need for pinwheels in c4. They are a nice clutch for c3. The rest of your question has already been discussed. Just because you use the best clutches doesn't mean your trans will hold forever there is more to it than that.
