I got it.... here is the perfect fix for the y-bridge problem. You don't have to worry about it being pretty because we all know Levi DGAF and the fact that he would come up with something that looks just as janky. A certain set of traction bars come to mind :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

nailed it!!! whats funny is we were texting about the block and him all of a sudden wanting me to paint it. I go, there is no way im painting it. You would never clean it!. he claims its the one truck he cleans all the time. Then i showed him pics of the undercarriage and he proceeded to blaim blaze for it :roflmao: :roflmao:

That sounds like standard levi!! Just because she looks good and like a queen on the outside doesn't mean she isn't a dirty whore on the inside :mikelsheep:

James are you doing all of the assembly yourself? It appears that way I just wanted to double check. I'm wanting to do the same if I ever get around to rebuilding my engine for the tahoe, just need someone to call upon :roflmao:

well and a dirty whore underneath too! the bent up skid plate and dent in the oil pan definitely shows shes been ridden hard :D

yes sir! the machine shop my stuff went to is not wildly verse in dmax stuff yet but they are getting there quickly. they do great machine work but assembly has brought up a few issues on a couple engines. stock pistons in backwards, no o-rings on the back of the mid plate, just little things. So to save me a trip or issues, i do all the assembly. Not to metion, it lets me double check all the work they did as well as let me move/change things up for the best clearances possible. I have quite the running paper list to give Levi when he gets the truck back that will have everything listed out on it for clearances. may never get used again but having that info would make me feel better about buying a built truck should he sell it (which is typical for him :roflmao:)

Cool. There's not a "local" machine shop here that Id want to assemble a dmax for me. They can surface the heads but that's as far as I let them take it. I actually called them earlier today asking if they can key a cam and crank for me. Took them 5 minutes to ask the boss what it was and if they could do it. Nope I'll just send em elsewhere.

I'm perfectly capable of assembling one given I have all the Info on specs etc. I've never fully assembled a dmax but I have a small block so it's gotta be close :roflamo: plus self satisfaction of knowing how it was done, and to document everything.

its really just about the same when you spec it all out. you always get a sense of pride about you when you do it and know its right. certainly makes that first start up easier on you too :D

Is there a magic spec book somewhere for dmax engines?

not really. bearing clearance will depend on the oil weight you want to run and how hard you will push it, plus how the crank is finished as well as a line hone. bore/hone is up to the pistons you run. Piston ring gap is dependent on rings, power, pistons, and/or power adder.

if you mean as far as service limits and what stock clearance ranges are, mitchell on demand or all data should have those as well as the dealer. ive crossed referenced a few numbers off mitchell with info henry has posted here years ago and its all matched up. there is good info here from years past on the specs these truck used from the factory.

She's about ready for engine drop in. Need to stop by the dealer tomorrow for two gaskets and a rubber hose. Took the time to clean the intake runners, y bridge and intake hat into the y bridge of all the carbon crap they had in them. Mineral Spirits takes that crap right off.

Bolted the driver side engine mount, got the Danville turbo on (Thanks Mark!), and just about 90% of the top end. All that's really left is the fuel system and wiring harness

HA! funny thing, he asked me to paint some stuff up last week after i assembled the bottom end. The timeline wont allow for it though. some of this stuff needs a full sand blasting to get the layered/caked on dirt/oil off.

Damn I wish you would of posted what those runners looked like before I put the top of my engine back together. Oh well if I don't quit screwing around with cleaning things my truck won't be running for a month.
