I would like to go to a filled block and fire rings for next year.... I want to see if someone figures something out with the blocks, I would love to bolt some big twins or triples on...:D:D Tripples would be harder to make room for, but I already have 2 S400's that could move 200 lbs/min together as atmosphere chargers... And it would be fun as hell!!! But, I have already somewhat seen the faults of the bottom end.

Crazy ideas I have in my head that will probably never happen...

Right now we are using Monotherm Mahle pistons for the new final Tier 4 13.5L John Deere test engines, they look kind of odd, and are pretty heavy... But kind of cool at the same time.

Will they be adding SCR to their engines for Tier 4 Final?? Or has mother Deere forbidden you to speak:D

This block is a partial fill to the bottom of the freeze plugs. I have seen the monotherms at work in a few of the CAT motors. They are definately odd looking. Is Deere going with DPF and NOX filters or urea injection? We just had a big meeting at work about the new Tier 4 construction equipment that is headed our way for some of our big customers to field test.

Interim Tier 4 is in effect right now for tractors, John deere is using a DPF and about 20% more EGR to meet that standard... They are testing SCR and Urea injection on most power platforms to meet final tier 4 emissions, but they want to try everything possible to stay away from Urea injection... I believe the twin turbo 6.8 Deere Engine meets final tier 4 with the higher percentage EGR and DPF, we have been building EPA credits for over a year now I think. IT4 8000's started production Jan. 1st of this year, IT4 7000's start production June 1st, and IT4 9000's start production in October... We are still doing testing and other things on the 7's and 9's. Some of the lower production items like Cotton pickers and Forage harvesters will go straight to Final Tier 4 next year... We have 30+ emissions dyno cells and put over a million hours on IT4 engines last year alone, there is also 20+ engine Life Test cells just for durability testing, and 20+ transmission bays, half of which have engines driving transmissions for testing purposes... I would like to know what JD's fuel bill and EPA bill is for the outputs of those cells!!!

I probably shouldn't tell you since you are a JD Green hater.... ;):D:D

Me nooo, like the products just not the cult that follows ownership (at least in my area its all  to mother Deere.

Plus the dealership service in our area isnt the best from our Deere ownership experiences, back down to only 2 things now though. 1560 Drill and 4x2 gator from 2000 that has never missed a beat but is missing half the parts.

Looks like everyone should watch out for the batmowheel this year:eek:. Impressive, i wonder what drivetrain losses would be. 100hp 150? I wonder what the smaller wheel, or one clipped to 2.6 would do. SJD has an engine dyno they are finally setting up for a duramax after having it for 5 or 6 years, id like to get on it some with my next engine toward the end of the summer.

Haven't the clipped/protrusion 2.6 gone 900 rwhp? I'd assume that's pretty close regardless of whose billet wheel it is - ED Bullseye BMW, Precision, Garrett, etc. All seem to only be marginally different as far as performance goes, no?

Still pretty stout numbers for a 75mm charger IMO.

Im sure many have, but if a 75mm is making 1060 at the fly wheel, i highly doubt it would make 900 to the rear wheels clipped down to 2.6, unless it was clipped when it made those numbers. Regardless dynos are only good for tuning... no bragging rights when they are all different. Its hard to figure difference in performance with turbos when some people like to run a 75 clipped down, and some people like to run 80+ clipped down. IMO turbine can make a big difference too. From what i seen last year, unless you pick up 150hp going to billet on an s480, they wont make the power an 80mm garrett will, and a garrett wont make the power a precision will. Who knows though, everybody seems to have different results.

Yeah, almost sounded like they take it to full rpm and pull it back down from there. Just like opposite of running a gas motor on a dyno where you control how fast it goes up through the rpm range.

Thats the best way to dyno a boosted motor for pulling, its how all the tractor guys do it. Its pretty awesome listening to an 1800hp tractor engine dyno.

Good to know. I think that is one of the first diesel's I've seen on an engine dyno. Makes sense to do it that way with a turbo motor.

1200-1300hp is pretty common with super farm tractors with billet Hx60's and Precision charges.... I don't know of any S400 in a true 3.0 or 3.0 Protrusion form that has done that, but the billet 83mm should do that, I would hope...

I have talked with multiple turbo companies and engineers, all agree that no, currently available, S400 turbine will support more than 1250hp, which is right in the ballpark, if paired with the right compressor wheel...

I wanted to put a 88 mm compressor wheel from a GT47 on the S400 with the 96/88 turbine, i was told that the charger would not make more than 1300hp... Where as the GT47 can make 1400.
