Thanks you ..... but I spoke to soon . Unless I can come up with a way to fabricate front mounts for block , Im back to square one .

Now Im going to need a real genius to get me out of this one .

Might as well figure out now fabricated blocks if there really is a medium duty block that is different . Then I can use this one and others from 2500 in the future if need be .

Somebody needs to look at thier LLY block for me and see if there is extra mounting ears sticking out on block unused by side of timing cover . And some mounting pads farther forward on block on side of cylinder walls . With big holes . Next size up from 2500 pads . Larger on my kodiak block here .

The Kodiak motor is mounted 4 point , 2 far forward on block and 2 1/3 back on side of transmission . Similar style mounts on trans . They sit on flat pads sticking out on frame , then a bolt from tire side though hole in frame and though mount .

Im pretty good about seeing solutions and not afraid to make or fabricate something , But this is gonna be chitty and take some thinking to solve this dilemma . nothing there to even mount of . I'll come up with something .

Was all kickin butt too . Not gonna let it get me down . Just not sure at this point how to solve it .

I just need to become a very talented fabricator at this point and make new mounts and combine to frame mount . Gotta figure out how to use this motor .

Havnt given up yet at using this beauty I just built .

Thanks Brayden , let me know what you see .

Here's a few pics of the differences in the blocks . This will let you see whats different .

View attachment 4265 see the big mounting ear on left and the big hole mouting pads , they dont exist on other block .

View attachment 4266 Nothing even here to mount to .... no ear or pads .

View attachment 4267 the rust covered part is whats missing on this block , over an inch thick and part of the casting .

View attachment 4268 finger is where block ear should be and nada .

I just cracked the cran grape and vodka out , and I never drink much .

This is just a little set back as far as im concerned for now . :alcoholic:

i'll be back home late sunday buddy.

this is terrible news about the block though.

My chicks dad owns a sheet metal stamping company and her uncle that works there is a great fabricator... building a full race truck right now and made a ton of parts from scratch... anywho. If need be maybe you guys can get together and get something fiigured out?

Truely the only way to use this motor is to do that .

Problem is to use the mount I have and fab to it is a problem due to clearance behind mount to keep it close to block . You would have to plate and use pads farther back with some flat steel , which leads to pushing the mount now out and down .

I can visualize a way . It just made a nice little road block . here i 'll post a couple pics of the mount so you can see .

There is just not anything there to mount to on the new motor .

What if you just used that oil galley bolt hole to fab something and then just use crush washers to seal it up. That oil galley bolt hole has to be around a 17mm and should have enough casting around it to be strong. IDK just thinking out loud after a couple drinks

Or instead of thinking what you can make with the factory mounts think about using the factory holes on the lly block and then making the brackets to work on your frame rails?

think away im open for all idea's . appreciated

I usually come up with idea's quick . The location and the lack of material to grab onto has made me stumped a little . Probably just have to completely fabricate a new mount .

Im really thinking that there must be a medium duty block that has these mounts and where the heck am I going to find one , so I might as well get on the fabricated mount and tossing around idea's . Then I will always be able to use a 2500HD block in the future .

Just have to move on and forward and not let it stop me .

I wish you could see the pics simon , you would see how far forward the mounts really are and how different the blocks really are with out these mounts cast on it .

Thanks to the wireless internet and a cool thread by Ripmf666 (thanks)I had no problem adjusting valves . Actually really like doing the adjustment and all the theory behind the timing of everything . Very cool and fun to do .

used .012 and a .010 to back ck myself and make sure none were tight as I went along . Very happy with adjustment . Kinda Anal about it and making sure perfect . Went over them a view more times to double ck myself .

Pics .

Johnny i'm glad those specs helped out.I will be adding more in a few days when I figure out what not to over lap with since alot of those specs are the same for all the years and only little tq changes.

I will look at Gm specs and see what it shows for the 05 like yours and a newer truck like yours mybe gm made a new style motor mount to replace yours on the newer block, Gm trys to use all the same blocks were they can use them in more then one truck to say.

Well I slept on it ..... woke up before 7

Simon the cradle was what I was thinking also maybe . I need strength ,the truck takes a beating and the mounts need to be strong .

The way the other block had the mounts on it , it was very strong .

Im just not seeing a quick answer and still cant believe my dilemma .

I keep pinching myself to make sure Im awake and this isnt a dream .

OUCH , its not .

My guess is that you will find a medium duty block , that has heavy duty mounts on front for incorporating a front motor plate basically .

I wish I didnt have such a big gouge in other blocks cylinder wall .

Im feeling very screwed right about now !

Bad Boy motor finished on the stand and no way to mount it .
