OK , made some serious headway today . Almost finished complete motor in one day . Malibu came down from Ventura and we kicked some serious tail today , here are the pics of the progress .

Thanks Adam for keeping me going all day . You were a big help .

Tomorrow , finish torque on heads , adjust valves , bolt on valve covers and stick it in the truck . The rest is done in the chassis . Turbo , Fuel injection , front accessories , and all the rest of the BS .

In the morning need to get 15mm 12 point for the studs and a 36mm socket for the balancer .

Really got far today . Should be sticking it in the truck either late tomorrow or Sat morning .

So thats the low down on the progress for just today .

And ya some dingo borrowed my banjo bolt for my turbo and didnt replace it yet . Hmmm , wonder who that was ...... Could it be the same dingo that started this Ban Johnny thread ....... Tommy !!

Called Greg ( Stewie ) and it has to come from Detroit and would be like $45 and a week . I know where my bolt is though .

Only other things I need is to go to dealer to pick up my motor mount bolt I snapped out at Glamis . And somehow I jacked my o-ring for top of water pump .

Stewie is trying to get me one in the morning . And big thanks for the Kent Moore tool Greg . It really makes it a breeze to do the front and rear seal .

I'll get you that tool back tomorrow too Greg . Thanks again , and Tommy for delivering it last week .

Now give me my banjo bolt back and go find your own .

Put in a call to Brayden and Chase and they are going to send me Tommys Banjo Bolt .

So I guess you wont have any wheels till it gets here Tommy .... :D

gonna look into the water pump gasket o ring in the morning - i think i have one in my box. I have 2 copper seals for the turbo feed bolts. Theres a dealer in fontana that has your bolt. We don't deal with them but if it comes down to nobody providing that bolt - thats an option.....

Theres this guy some speak of named mcrat or something. i hear he has worked on a turbo or two? Maybe he has one lying around?

No hurry on the kent moore tool.

I have a balancer bolt socket you can borrow if needed.

I have an engine mount bolt as well. Belongs to this guy named ray but his truck is in a shop gettin all done up... he doesn't need it....

I'm leaving for the weekend around 10 or 11 so hit me up early and we can get you all squared away.

you need any more GM sealant?

Anything else?

Far as banning Johhny till he gets his motor done? With fuel at $5/gal I don't blame him for leaving it busted.

This was one of my favorite posts in this thread .

Because it's so true .

I am going to have a heart attack I think when I go to the pumps , after riding the street bike for so long ive kinda got use to 40mpg . Last time I bought diesel it was $3.90 a gallon also .

OK heads are torqued . Thats was a pain per instructions 4 times torquing thru on-off to stretch bolts I guess . Done . 18 studs and 4 bolts per head x2 ... x 4 = alot of torquing and loosening . Right arm is tired but the results is worth the effort for sure . Feel like Im getting closer .

Now on to valve adjustment . 12 thousandths right ? Simon sent me some specs and somehow I erased the file .

As soon as I finish adjustment , covers go on and she is ready to drop , except for the 2 bolts that go thru the rear plate into oil pan . I have to pull the flywheel back off to get them in . No biggy after doing studs .

Then she goes on the hook to be dropped in . Has to go in bare and be completed in chassis do to height needed to get under cab with cherry picker .

Aren't the bolts that hold the flex plate on one time use only?

Well thats what Ive heard one time use . Ive used these twice myself now after cracked flexplate when input shaft snapped . Im guessing when my second motor was done at dealer they were replaced .

If not this is 4th use .

I guess I can replace , you think it is that big of a concern .

They are such big ass bolts didnt think it was necessary to do . ???

I was going to run them . Already torqued but still need to take flywheel back of and add the 2 pan bolts . So they will be off here in about an hour .

When you coming home ? Greg ...... Sunday ?

Thanks to the wireless internet and a cool thread by Ripmf666 (thanks)I had no problem adjusting valves . Actually really like doing the adjustment and all the theory behind the timing of everything . Very cool and fun to do .

used .012 and a .010 to back ck myself and make sure none were tight as I went along . Very happy with adjustment . Kinda Anal about it and making sure perfect . Went over them a view more times to double ck myself .

Pics .

Well have some bad news ......

The blocks are different . Disaster !!!

There are no casting mounts or ear on front of block to attach motor mount for kodiak .

Either there is a medium duty block or lly and lb7 are different .

Motor wont go in kodiak truck .

Looked at them , I have my other block sitting here .

My original block has medium duty mounting pads on block with larger holes towards front and side of block . Also big ear cast in to the block off side right by front leading edge of timing cover . I screwed .

I still stunned by this to say the least , kinda in shock . Holy Crap ...... no mounting hole or pads and other mounts are far back for 2500 .

Not Goood ...... motor is done though ..... ready to go in .
