He'll yeah, I had an opportunity to move to the cat forestry division of our company and I jumped all over it.

Good for you! I'm still classified as Field Service but I never leave the Mine & I had to give my truck back:( I really miss the variety of being in the Field. Enjoy Bud.

Oh ya, love the Autocrane. Best cranes and service bodies in the business.

C7 in those trucks are so underpowered! We have all new interTrashionals at my dealer.

Brian, I looked under the hood of a couple of those Cornbinders. I'll take my underpowered C7 back any day... The saying "10 pounds of *hit in a 5 pound bag" came to mind lol. Although the ACERT stufff isn't any better... Gotta love emissions:rolleyes:

I disagree on the autocrane. Would rather have stellar any day. My autocrane bodies and cranes have been junk! I agree on the internationals though. Our newer service trucks 07 and newer have been a handful and are internationals. My old 5500 was ok but like the room I have now box wise in my frieght shaker. Power wise I like my mercedes but its a mother to work on. Can't have it all i guess lol. It sounds cool with a turbo muffler on it! Would rather have a auto then the straight 6 speed also.

Stellar is good, but know way is an auto crane body junk... The auto crane body will easily outlast the chassis it's bolted to... Are you sure you had a auto crane body? Heavy gauge doors with rounded corners?

The only issues I ever had with my crane was with the limit switches... They are easily bypassed.

I love my auto crane but we use adkins truck equipment bodies. They are the best setup bodies I have seen. They normally get used on 2 chassis before they go to auction. When they go to auction they aren't even half wore out. I guess its a depreciation thing.

My first service truck autocrane everything. Compressor was noisy as all get out. Crane would always stick spools and always were messing with the coils. Bed cracked in half over crane support. Boxes around wheel wells rusted out with only 150,000 miles on the truck. There are different grades of autocrane bodies also. I should have added that. We get the cheap ones go figure.

My new to me truck. Bed is junk. I say this becuase its prob been on two trucks already. We got the truck as a single axle tractor and the bed came from WV from a coal mine. We put it together and got the truck painted. Its been a nightmare since. I do have a new air compressor sitting in the shop for tommorrow :D I would never get a short wheelbase truck becuase they ride like crap. It does turn extremely sharp though. truck has plenty of power. Its rated for 285hp. Sorry for the huge derail lol. Its like 35 today. Feels like a heat wave. Muddy as all get out though.

No derail. I like talking service trucks. Thats crazy you have had so much trouble with them... We have had next to zero issues with the body, just broken door latches but that was no fault of the body. The roads, or lack there of up here are horrible... I have literally caught air off of frost heaves in my KW. Never had any body cracking issues.

We are still rocking 96' topkicks at the mine:spit:... With maintainer cranes & bodies... What a piece of crap. We can't even buy parts for the tractors anymore, but we keep running them:confused:.

I keep trying to get them to give us the KW's from town, and they can have new Cornbinders to replace them. I don't even wan't to deal with dpf at the mine... Not enough road to get a good transient regen...

I will have to look at the Adkins body.

On a plus note, were 16 above for now:thumb:

Alot of it has to do with the amount of salt they use here. I would love to have a new KW truck! The stellars seam to last alot longer without rusting issues here. I would really like to have a extended cab service truck! IMHO thats the only way to go. I know a few that have them and its like a moble office in the back. We have been having DPF issues on everything we have from CAT, INTERNATIONAL, VOLVO, etc. They all are plugging up and not reginin right. It sucks becuase almost always we can't do anything to them but call the dealer. Specially all john deere stuff.

We have one extended cab International at my work, It's legit. All the other service trucks are all 6.0 junkers with 3 replaced engines within 100k miles. have 3 new 6.7 fords, they seen to get 9mpg, up form the 6 the 6.0's got, less issues so far.

Shoot. Just junked one. Nobody wanted the motor or anything so we torched it and scraped it. We do have the hood and reg cab body for cheap! Supposed to be -13 on Monday here.. Not normal. I live in a house that is 100years old. So no insulation in the back entry and that is where we hang our jackets. They are freezing to the wall. THAT is how I know it is too cold. Plus the master BR is a balmy 55*.
