Most Dodge guys are hardcore about them. Gotta wonder why he'd want to trade it for a Chev. No way I'd ever trade my DMax for a Dodge. You already have EFI. So put that $5-7K into your own twin turbo setup. Have the Allison beefed and your truck will haul ass.

I would never trade my Dmax for a Dodge, I just might get one to play with. Prices should be pretty cheap.

If he really wants to trade so bad trade trucks for a week and see how you like it.

No way would I trade my NEWER truck plus cash for a modified older truck, especially a Dodge. Do you think he's going to tell you he beats the s**t out of it? No way

Dodge interiors alone would make me not want one.

people post what they want other people to belive.... i mean i could tell you that my truck has never been beat or seen high egts but i would be lying. with that said if he has truly raced it more than once then he has probably piss pounded it. i dont mean evrey day but i am sure he didnt baby it at the track one bit

and like cornell said trading a newer nicer truck + CASH for someones older project dodge umm ......... dont realy see the logic and if you realy want everyones opinions then dont buy it because that is what 85% of the posts have been

if he loved it he would keep it

Ok well he takes care of the truck, he may not "baby" it and he may just be tellin me what i want to here but he wants a dmax for a DD and then hes gonna build a 1000hp cummins. The reason why im givin him money is because hes put wayyy more into than I have, and hes got a bunch of guys already lookin at buying it.

just out of curiosity why are you so sure this truck is going to hold up? by the way transmissions and injectors are by no means little. Your 5k would be eaten up when they fail. then you are back to square one. if you want a dodge, sell your truck buy a stock one that some grandpa has owned and mod it yourself. you can pickup used diesels for so cheap. if you want a truck that is already built prepare yourself for a ride because its not going to just be a built up dream truck. its going to need a lot of work and where to start? youll never know until it breaks:rolleyes:

The whole idea is stupid but you seem to have convinced yourself, so do it. Some fools only learn by doing stupid things.

Sounds like you dont know what the hell you want to do, but if you do get rid of the dmax and he doesnt want your bumpers let me know.:D

I would ask him to trade trucks for a week, it just doesnt make good sense why he JUST got through building the truck and now he wants to get rid of it.

My .02, check it out very closely. I had a buddy fly down south to purchase a "well known" racing/dyno 3rd gen from supposedly well known "performance guy". The truck was to have made over 1100hp on spray. After purchasing it and driving it back, it has been a disappointment to say the least. At our Fall Brawl, it fell well short on the dyno, and left about 2 quarts of oil on the dyno floor. There was a bunch of shoddy workmanship on that truck IMO, and I felt bad for my buddy who was looking to crack the 1000hp club. It needed a lot of work, and wasn't what he bargained for. The old too good to be true deal. Choose wisely.
I have to admit, the more stout bottom end is appealing, but overall, sometimes you don't know what you've got until it's gone. That's why I'm keeping mine. It's paid for now, and soon I can start saving for some upgrades, instead of buying a Cummins, and starting all over. I'm halfway there now. ;)
Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I think you may actually be right, with my luck ill get that thing and break it the next day. My duramax hasnt even been in the shop, i think ill give it a chance before i change, hopefully I can get the money for a small motor build then i wont have to worry about the internals and ill be faster than any of those dodges. I defintely dont wanna get that thing and have to come back and say "man that Josh character was actually right" :p

Remember this too it takes Cummins more hp than it takes us to hit the same ET. Example my buddy Drake ran around 900hp for a long time NEVER hitting a 10.99 his closet was an 11.2 Pat on the other hand given a light truck by about 400 lbs has ran mid 10s under 800hp. I;ve seen the magazines "900 Cummins Monster) guess what though at 900hp they aren't a 10second truck. If you built your engine and hit 800hp with a good 60' i'd bet LOTS of money that youll hit a 10 second ET

Ya thats very true....My goal is to have a dd that can run 10's. I wanna beat anything and everything thats on the street lol

Honestly 11's would satisfy me. I just want to do a motor build and have my truck pushing 700 horse which has to be good for a high 11 second run and not have to worry about the motor near as much.
