Oh i know I can be faster, but for how long? If I could do a trans and turbo and not have to worry about the internals i wouldnt even be considering this.

Yea, DITD is this weekend coming up. The 7th of March. Ill check it out and let you know. Personally, i wouldnt do it. My good good buddy has a Cummins with 535hp and it problem after problem. Its totally your decision but, i would go Dodge WAY before i ever went Ford. Good power he has but, he also weighs more than the dmax. Mine was 6800 and my friends Cummins was 7400 on the scale.

Do you think a 700hp cummins is easy on internals?

Never said that but if you put things in perspecitve, IdahoRob has twins on a dmax and is running them safely at 700hp so having twins has to help. And its been babied. Also motor work wouldnt cost near as much on a cummins.

Thanks , I appreicate the advice. He said that truck has never been in the shop so i figure its a truck that holds together quite well, i am taking a risk though. We will probably work out somethin where if we wanna trade back we can...let me know what you think of the truck if you see it though

Whats in it for him? Why would he want to trade for your truck after he did all this work on it? Sounds fishy.

what year is it??? He can take that 17K he spent on performance and smoke half of it cause he'll be lucky to get even that much worth added to an otherwise stock truck by having them on there. That's just the nature of resale on a used product.

First hunch is I wouldn't even consider it if you have to give ANY money plus your truck. If it were a straight trade (his truck IS at least a year older than yours and maybe two or three).

He's full of it if he says he babies it yet is that into the diesels to have done all that work to it. You don't do all that to sunday drive it all the time. You can bet on that.

So, no I would not do that trade if you have to give anymore than a grand or two with your truck for it. Think about it... you could probably sell your truck, as-is, for 23-28K depending on market value in your area. He might be able to sell a modified 03-05 Dodge for similar money. Can't see him getting more than 30K for it for sure. So, if you are willing to drop 6-8K, you could do like someone else says and save just a little longer and build your engine and trans and through a little juice on it til you can afford a charger upgrade and it'll last plenty long for the power level and run circles around similar powered Dodges that aren't gutted to the max. Plus it'll be a better street machine.

Obviously, if you GOTTA have a Dodge then quit asking us for approval and get rid of your truck and go have a blast in a Dodge. Deal is, you aren't likely gonna get any sort of blessing here to get rid of your duramax in favor of the Dodge. Just not gonna happen here. So YOU need to decide if you want a Dodge or if you can be satisified with your dmax and do whichever you think. No sense in continuing to ask us though as we won't, in general, be telling you to ditch the Duramax.

C-ya and good luck.

Ok for 5000 you could have twins on your duramax. motor work is cheaper on a cummins huh, only difference is you buy in 6 instead of 8. parts is parts man, your gonna pay to get into this older cummins or your gonna pay to upgrade your truck, so either way dude.

Its an 05 and he has put so much more money into it than ive put in mine, he could get 30k for it and i could probably get 24 or 25k for mine at best. So mine plus 5k is fair in my opinion, he takes really good care of it, and the reason i know its not a fishy deal is because he was asking to buy my truck at first and really didnt wanna get rid of his since he has had very few problems with it. Im gonna meet him and look at the truck before i do anything to.

once you put that 2nd CP3 on there, you'll have a good chance of melting the pistons in that cummins. I'd keep the Dmax. I can't stand a Dodge truck. You might take that 5K and go buy a p-pumped 2nd gen cummins and beat on it. You can have a fast truck for under 10K total. I'm going to buy a 94-98.5 cummins and build a dedicated beater for the track and sled pulls. Hope that helps..........

Well ive been on cummins forum for a while and theres a guy with a white quad cab short bed 4x4 that has MPI twins and has lots more potential. He dynoed at 691 and he doesnt even have dual cp3's on it and just 90 hp injectors so it could get a lot faster. It has a fully built gorend trans and ive been talkin to the guy for a couple days since hes been lookin into getting a dmax. Well were thinkin on trading plus me giving him some cash. I want big power but I dont think I have the money if my motor blows with a dmax, i understand dodges have lots of other problems but after talking to the guy he keeps his truck in perfect shape. Amsoil fluids throughout it, always lets it warm up and cool down, never seen egts over 1300, at least this is what i was told. But I know this truck is a really nice truck and I like the cummins alot. Were gonna take a look at each others trucks and see what we think after but what do you guys think about it? I know all yall love the dmax and so do I but with as honest opinion as possible tell me if its a bad idea.

Theres two pics of it.
that is pretty good hp for a single cp3,does it have a stroker pump on it?also what tuning does he use to make power.there is some 05 tuning that makes nasty power but takes away engine life with each use.also if you want a bigger power dodge il take your truck and 12000 and my truck comes with a built motor with a single and a built backup motor with twins, bar and progressive nos kit....on second thought i dont wanna sell my truck .but seriosly check on his mods first.also some 05s have bad cylinder bores on the 5 hole from the factory ,never shows a problem til mods are on the truck...
