Now can you tune multiple vehicles with one Flashscan? I'm used to Dodge stuff where it VIN locks when you load a tune.

Or is it you scan your factory tuning, load it on a computer, change parameters, and throw it back in the ECM? Then you can use the same V2 to do another Dodge, or a Duramax?

I know you need licenses; I have 2 Dodges I'd like to tune and looking for a Dmax. Would I need one V2 and three licenses or three V2s and three licenses for the 3 trucks (when it's released...)?

the V2 unit can have as many licenses as you want/need... you will be fine with one V2:D

FlashScan V2 can hold up to 221 licenses. It ships with 2, and you can purchase additional licenses to tune additional vehicles.

FlashScan is different to other tuners because it's a tool - it's programming software where you need to do the work (download the tune from the ECM, modify the tune and reflash it, data log, refine the tune etc). It doesn't ship with any tunes (although many of our dealers do provide tunes with purchase).

If FlashScan is a tool, then consider a handheld as a part - it's pre-programmed from it's maker and you install it on your truck.

I have an update for you all.

Ross goes to New Zealand on Monday to finalise development on the CAN 5.9L (06-07). They may or may not get time to finalise the 6.7L. We are hopful that Beta will follow within a few weeks of that trip.

The initial beta phase will be conducted with existing customers who are already intimately familiar with the EFILive products and processes. This decision is intended to ensure that product familiarity do not cause unnecessary issues for either the user or EFILive as we try to progress through the beta phase. Additionally we ideally wish for the beta participants to have the ability to recover the Cummins ECM with other tools should a problem be identified, it is beta afterall. For this reason individuals (personal users) will generally not be considered due to the potential for issues.

Our licensing model is to change shortly to align with the changes that supporting multiple manufacturers brings. When Cummins support is released customers will be able to purchase the 'Cummins Diesel Tuning Add-On' which will cost US$399. There will also be a 'GM Tuning Add-On' product to cover the existing GM support, also priced at US$399.

Existing customers FlashScan V2 cables already include the 'GM Tuning Add-On' because that's all we support right now. New customers will have the option to choose which (or both) tuning support they wish to activate on the FlashScan V2 interface.

To tune a Cummins, you'll need FlashScan V2, currently $399, and the Cummins license $399.

To tune both Cummins and GM, you'll need FlashScan V2 and both licenses.

You'll be able to tune 2 vehicles out of the box, and purchase VIN licenses to tune additonal vehicles for $99.00. Currently FlashScan V2 can hold 221 licenses.

Can you add the GM license to the Cummins-licensed V2 later down the road, or does it need to be included upon initial purchase.

I ask because I don't currently have a Dmax, but will in the future (year or two) and intend to tune both Cummins' trucks now and the Dmax later. Not sure if it's all software stuff or physical internal hardware differences in the V2s...

Thanks for keepin' us in the loop:thumb:

Our understanding at this point was that the 06 was a clean changeover and that they are all CAN based vehicles. That said, if Ram is anything like GM, that won't be the case and there will be some early (very early) 06 built trucks that will be SCI. Until we are presented with an 06 truck that is SCI or some type of fact to suggest otherwise, the answer is it's impossible to know with 100% authority.

You can purchase the manufacturing vehicle license (either GM or Cummins) at any point of time via an internet upgrade.

The hardware difference comes with SCI support (03-05 Cummins) - existing black V2's are not capable of supporting SCI, only CAN (GM and Cummins) and VPW (GM), while the new blue V2's are able to support all of the above.

Blue V2's will ship as standard issue now that we have quitted all of our black FlashScan V2 stock.

There was a change in mid 06, now whether all 06s are CAN or just 06.5 are, I don't know. But I think only mid 06 are...

When I got my 07, there was almost nothing that worked on it, other than Smarty. No Edge. No TST. No BullyDog. No Banks. No Quadzilla. Nothing. These were for 06.5/07 trucks. Slowly, stuff rolled out and everything now works with the 06.5/07 trucks, with the exception of TST.

TST will physically plug in to the 06.5/07 truck, and will work, except EGTs are uncontrollable and you WILL melt pistons. Early 06 work fine, but build date 06/06 and later won't.

Ross and I have a soft spot for old Cadillacs :thumb:

After some digging, it appears all 06s are CAN
That's good to know. In the 12 months we've had reading enabled we hadn't come across any 06 OS we haven't been able to support. That means one of 2 things - either the sample reads haven't come from a wide enough range of trucks, or all the 06's are CAN. Here's hoping it's the latter :)

You can check if your truck is CAN you will need to locate the ECM and near the part number you'll find a sticker. If the sticker says CM849B you have a CAN based vehicle. If the sticker says CM846, CM848 or something else you have an SCI vehcile.

Thank you very much....do you guys know when this well be available? and if im understanding this correct then the blue v2's will be able to read a CAN an SCI based vehicles correct
