Cummins Software Screenshots

What's the time frame on the 03-05 trucks?

A few months at least. Development cannot commence until the CAN support is in full release and the option/parameter requests start to dwindle.

Thank you very much....do you guys know when this well be available? and if im understanding this correct then the blue v2's will be able to read a CAN an SCI based vehicles correct

5.9L CAN will be in beta in a couple of weeks.
6.7L will follow shortly after (worst case mid feb)

When the closed beta's move to a full public release is dependent on how testing goes.

Your right, the blue V2 is capable of SCI and CAN.

Cheers

As posted in the new Cummins section of our forum here is an update for you all

5.9L Update
Good news to report for the new year.
For those that are following development progress you might know that I am currently in New Zealand working along side Paul finalising the read and reflash process for the 2006+ 5.9L ECM (though I was told today some 2005's might be using this ECM too).

Anyway, the good news is we have got the in house beta software to the point of being able to bench read and reflash at least three of our test ECM's without any issues. Including recovery from purposely failed flashes.

Some people might be aware of the problem these ECM's have where they will loose the VIN and other important data after they have been programmed. This is actually a bug in the ECM itself, it's not the fault of any handheld programmers, not even Cummins (or Tech Authority seems to have a real solution to fix it either). However, we have come up with a reflash method that will restore the ECM's contents (that is usually lost) to a 100% duplicate of what it was prior to the flash.

For the rest of the week we need to test the licensing for the Cummins, try to get the Scantool talking correctly with the ECM and retest many GM controllers because we have made a lot of changes to the firmware and PC software. So if all goes well our beta testers will be tuning some Cummins ECM's by mid to late January. Beta testers, you will get an Email over the next couple of days explaining what is going on with the beta program.

6.7L Update
Once the 5.9L ECM product is released and stable we will move on to the 2007+ 6.7L ECM, up to at least the 2009 model before they put the RSA security in the ECM, that will have to follow later.
We are hoping to offer stable 6.7L ECM reading with the 5.9L release so customers can start sending in reads from 6.7L trucks.

Cheers

I don't know, it's not a part number that we have in our stock of ECM's - but if you shoot me a PM with your VIN number I'll check out the OS details and get back to you. Also let me know what month/year build do you have?

Cheers

so if I read that correctly,, the update can be purchased now? i'd like to be able to at least copy some stock files to build a good data base before i start tweaking and flashing tunes if possible.
thanks!

So is this a I can try it at my own risk deal? As of now or should I be able to read a stock tune an reflash it in? I have an 06 that my buddy has to try out an also got 2008-2010 6.7's if you guys want them I can try reading them

Reading for the 06-07 5.9L has been available in current release software for over 12 months. Flashing for that controller will move into a closed beta test within a week or 2.

You won't be able to flash Cummins with your FlashScan V2 unless you upgrade to our Cummins software license; these won't be made available for purchase until our Cummins product is ready for sale.

(You can read a Cummins without the software license, just not flash it)

Reading for the 6.7L will be enabled in a future release. We need to get the 6.7L reads into the public arena asap so that we can finalize mapping, and when it is released would love for you to send in some files.

The update should be available to purchase online within the next couple of weeks. You don't need the license to read the tunes, so you can commence building your library.

Just to clarify, if I want to tune SCI vehicles I would be better off to sell my current V2 and buy a new blue unit with both Dodge and Chevy licenses? Would there be any issues using a new V2 on my truck was tuned with the old V2?

Here is an extract of what we posted on our forum last night, although it's a little outdated now, so please read right to the end.

Hi All,

Well the good news is the testers are ready to move on to phase two of the beta program. This will involve tuning the trucks

The first phase of the beta involved reading the ECM calibrations out and then reflashing the unmodified tunes back in. There was a couple of teething problems with a module on the CAN bus causing some grief but that was sorted out pretty fast.

The feedback we have from on truck reading / flashing is as follows.

* No fuse removal required.
* No DTC's set.
* No VIN cleared.
* No double key off/on at end of flash.
* Interrupted reflash full recovery ok.

ECM Read Time: 4:30
ECM Flash Time: 5:30

These times are a typical average, it does vary by maybe 10 - 20 seconds depending on the operating system in the truck, all the test trucks are of course 2006-2007's.

All good news so far!

The even better news is that overnight we've had a number of testers modify the calibrations in their vehicles with excellent results on a few fronts. Firstly, the software worked without issue - there are no dead trucks (or ECM's), there are still no errors/DTC's or VIN issues at the end of the flash.

On the tuning front, the comments we've received include
* Much smoother delivery of power.
* Drivability improvements.
* The results from these few table changes compare to nothing else I've tried.

There is still lots of testing to be done to bullet-proof the software before it's released, but we are much closer to a release date than we were just a few days ago.

Cheers

You could. You'd need to license your existing truck to your new blue V2 to tune it. It's not possible to move licenses between hardware units.

There were some changes made in the current pre-release (Jan 24th) to tighten the processes around reading/writing to prevent failured reads/writes. With the new software we've had no reported read/write failures, and it has been thoroughly tested in beta!

If you update to the latest pre-release*, you'll have no problems reading an 06-07 5.9L Cummins ECM.

* With the pre-release, READ the instructions first - the software is still in testing phase. Also for Cummins, you need to have V7 and V8 software, along with bootblock and firmware updated to the latest release.

Cummins is reading/writing with V8 software, and the tuning is still using the V7 format.
