Wondering what everyones experiance with CNC ported heads have been. I have two LBZ heads with cracked exhaust ports and one that seems okay for now, as you can imagine this creates a ton of white smoke....

Company name that has done the porting will remain nameless for now, I have also seen cracked LB7 heads from another BIG name dmax shop..... seems like they all have the same story "this is the first time we have seen this bla bla bla"

Wish I had never sent my hand ported LBZ heads back as cores lol. I`m tired of doing head job after head job and having no confidence in the parts that these "industry experts" are selling. Everytime I see their add in a magazine I just cringe.

Why leave the company name out of your post? You could help others not have the same issues you are.
I dont think i would either,we all know how that turns out if asked in pm i would probably say but if you make it public you get bashed for saying so IMO

The guy i use would stand behind them 100% atleast for the heads anyways.

I`ve got another head that was cracked cut in half at the port and they all seem to be cracking in the same spot, its a definate weak spot in the casting and Im almost damn sure they have changed their cnc program since my first two heads because the one warranty head they sent me before I even got the motor in the truck has been okay. Engine oil tested positive for anitfreeze.... tell them that and they said "no big deal"..... WTF MAN! no big deal lol. I`d find a way to send the motor back to them but dont have other wheels right now and to be honest wouldnt trust a damn thing they touch

There's a big difference between a failure and a pattern in my book. His sound like a pattern.

Yepp, when the part fails the first time you fire the truck up and idle it its a little different. I wouldnt be pissed off if I was drag racing this truck and hurt the motor, thats a risk you take. Its even worse when you have problems with the motor as soon as the crate opens up...... some people shouldnt be allowed to touch duramax engines.

Other people with this problem have either been bribed by the company to not say anything or just are not on the forums. Its a definate pattern, I`ll post up the photos and video`s this weekend possibly.

Call up David Browning at DTS, he'll get you set up with some heads that'll work. without seeing pictures it is hard to say anything here, but are you sure the decks are good?

Block and head are flat, however the first head I pulled off this motor had pits all over the #6 cyl. right into the seats and where the un schrouding had been done, looked like a piston wring or glow plug had broke in that core and bounced around leaving marks everywhere, even after they had decked it the marks are still .010"-.015" deep, I discovered this when I pulled the heads off to change head gaskets on this brand new crate motor since they managed to forget left from right with head gaskets.

Head gaskets on the wrong sides of the engine, pulled heads, found pits @ #6, found the wrong spring retainers on every spring, valve lash so far out of wack it wasnt funny, marks that looked like a screwdriver or something on the brand new coated pistons, powder coat that peels off like spray paint on grease. Probably more that i`m forgetting right now too. (all found with the engine still brand new in its crate)

I didnt want to vent on line but what else is there too do, the company sent one warranty head for the pitted one, so I replaced that one, then the other side cracked and I still had the pitted head here so I installed it and it cracked too, the first head they warrantied seems okay, so it leaves me with the two origonal ported heads cracked and one good one, makes me think they realized the issue and fixed it and I have one of the good ones and two bad ones. But I could be wrong too, maybe the cores were junk to start with.

Bud, I've been through the same shit with 2 of the biggest companies in the duramax world, and a couple others, I decided to take what I learned and move forward on the road less-travelled. Im very pleased that I did. ;)

Thanks for the advice, I`ll definately learned how not to build a motor by dealing with these guys, time to save up and start over unless the bank comes and takes her away first.

Building a sweet LMM right now for a customer, cant wait to finish it the right way. :thumb:

Now that I have a couple of drinks in me I dont feel bad laying blame to Industrial Injection, they didnt even know left from right on head gaskets and I now have two cracked cnc ported heads from them...... Steer clear from them if you are looking for dmax stuff, the injectors they sell dont flow regardless of what they tell you, they cant even clock the solenoid bodies properly on the injectors. I was told to just deal with it hahaha, I was okay with a few t shirts and marketing junk to cover the cost of head gaskets but now two cracked cnc heads???? where is the line drawn...... Dealing with them has left such a sour taste in my mouth it isnt even funny, no word of a lie I have lost my job over the attitude I have had towards this hobby from dealing with people at II that just tell you "oh, well every other crate motor on the shelf is like that" well that sure as **** dont make it right you retards.

A few drinks makes everything feel a little better! You're not the first and I'm sure you won't be the last to say this about II. When I was looking for injectors before anyone told me what to buy they made sure to tell me not to buy Industrial Injection.

Does II even do the work in house, I thought that a third party build all the hard part i.e. heads

I am not sure on this..

From what I gather they slide the heads over the studs after they paint the blocks and then there is the 50/50 chance of the head gaskets being installed properly depending on what way they are looking at the motor, I have noticed on all the pics they post of their motors on facebook they at least put the gaskets on the proper side of the motor, I`m glad I could help them figure that one out.

Now for injectors though... that looks like its all in house... Picture getting your injectors back and the solenoid bodies are so ass backwards they hit the valve covers and wont even fully seat in the heads or let you connect the harness.
