Too much spring pressure or something?

No believe it or not they talk about the springs not having enough pressure for the amount of lift due to worn out and weak springs (in LS threads). I still have to talk to the manufacturer of my cam to see if he has had a problem like this before.

Honestly I don't know enough about how the valve train works to really come to a conclusion which is why I am looking forward to talking with the manufacturer. The only other circumstance where this has happened that I could find was because of either a bad cam core, or something to do with the amount of lift correlating with the springs. But that situation could be different than what I am facing.

well cheaper than a broken crank i guess. Good luck getting it sorted out.
Cam lobes get wiped due to failed lifters, bad cam cores, or lack of lubrication. Valve float doesnt really hurt them as much as you would think, but can obviously cause other issues that can damage a cam. You would have to run absurdly high spring pressure to wipe a lobe, your pushrods would probably fail first.

To be 100% honest, I think it's due to a shit cam to begin with, but, JMHO.

No offence to Caden, but he didn't make the power or push the engine very hard for what it was built for. Hell, it's a forged engine with every supporting mod.

Every supporting mod but injectors, pumps, and more air lol

I built the motor to handle what I could throw at it, and plan to throw more at it in the future, but I don't have the luxury of going all out with supporting mods right after purchasing a motor... Broke college kid

Wiping a lobe is usually a cam issue. However, a seized roller on the lifter and oil starvation can do it too.

Design wise, a lobe ramp that is too aggressive will cause problems even with mild springs, but that is hard to do with roller lifters.

You are running his extreme springs so they are probably 160 lbs or more. That along with a bad heat treatment will do it. Those springs really are not made for daily driving. Comp cams does his cams from what I was told be Wagler. They are top notch in cams.

I spoke with Jeremy about this; he'll be giving you a call. The cams are done by Comp. They'll get it squared away. :thumb:

Spoke with Jeremy today, should have a new cam fairly soon.

In the meantime the motor is getting reassembled with new bearings, rings, and lifters. Springs are going to be tested, everything looked great in the motor upon tear down other than the valve train problems.

Does the lifter with the flat roller still spin freely?

Yes

My builder is pretty certain that it is either a bad regrind, or (more certain) that it is from lofting the lifters. But I have 130lb springs, so we are going to test the springs to ensure that one or two of them are not weak.
