You can always go to the hardware store and get a brass shutoff valve and splice it into the fuel line between the tank and the pump. I had to shorten my AD lines anyway so I figured why not just put that valve in place of the splice? Makes changing filters so much cleaner.:thumb:

Good idea too! You can also screw out the qd fitting on the pump manifold and use a male x female npt ballvalve if you don't want to cut the lines

Coker, thanks for this write up. Just picked up my CAT filter for only $18.00. I am going to delete the factory filter head unit as well. If any of you are in the San Bernardino/Riverside area, I got my filters from Johnson CAT 800 E. La Cadena Drive, Riverside, CA 92507. (951) 686-4560.

Coker, I just installed mine and didn't have to grind the edges at all. On the bracket that holds the AirDog assembly, it has space for it to be positioned. I did have to remove those two little tabs and that was it. For the fuel line coming in, I just clamped it and no fuel leakage during the whole ordeal. For anybody else who doesn't want to grind theirs, just loosen the bracket bolts and position the AirDog assembly accordingly. Again, thanks for this write up Coker. My injectors are thanking you. :D

im sure shipping would bring it back up to normal price, whats cheapest you have got them for? I guess if your getting them at 18 each it would save you 15-20 bucks buying 6-8

All the cat water seperater filters I have found have a 1" inlet and will not fit the airdog

That's awesome!!!! Everyone should try that first and only grind if necessary.

Good point!! We should start every job by grinding our initials in the part we are working on. Kinda like marking territory!

Coker this has been a great post. Until now, I never knew the difference between nominal & absolute filters. On the CAT website, it shows the difference in micron sizes. A human hair is 80 microns, damage to fuel systems can occur in the 5-10 micron level, and the CAT filters down to the 2 micron level. Since my truck is out of warranty, I'm trying to do all I can to keep the injectors clean.
