Coming in late to the party, but wouldn't Mike's elevation (in SLC) play into the choice of a/r? What works well in IA or DE wouldn't necessarily work the same in UT, right?

My especially AR choice play a roll at my elevation. Kind of odd what i noticed..I did t think it would do quite what it did when I swapped...

going from the 1.0 housing and billet 11 blade wheel to the .90 housing and 7 blade cast wheel...I notice zero difference in drivability. I thought for sure the .90 would lite quicker regardless of what wheel was in there. Next on the list is to swap the cast 7 blade for a billet 6 blade. Which is substantially lighter than the cast wheel.

I haven't looked into any intercoolers lately. My silicone job holds like a champ haha.

also decided to ditch this 11 blade wheel and go back to the cast 7 blade. I don't think the 11 blade wheel played well in the compound setup

Late reply, but, switching to the 7 bkade wheel is probably a good move, Ive read that the 11 boade wheels develop too much (or more than needed) drive pressure in a twin set and the 7 blade wheels move more air

And HOL-E COW, that was a helluva a crack on your ped!!!
Glad you got er fixed up:thumb:

One thing tho, arent you supposed to weld it in a certain pattern to allow for expansion, to prevent cracking???

Just curious cuz you mentioned welding it up solid all the way around the tube:confused:

Anyways, its always cool to see/read about you diggin in and problem solving your issues, keeps us less inclined guys motivated :)

Not sure about that. Obviously how it was welded before didn't last, although it had a good run. I believe the ped is about 3 years old. Even if i get another couple months out of it, I'll be just happy.

It would've been more valuable to switch just one thing at a time. If you would've just changed the housing first you probably would've gotten better feedback/information overall. Too late now, but good luck with the billet 6. Hope it works the way you want it to.

Thanks Rob. :)

Hit the track tonight with the switched up turbo. Also had my 2nd battery in and tailgate on, I'd say about 120lbs heavier than last time I was at the track..so it looks like it is making a hair more hp. Seems to clean the smoke up alot more too.

Still can't get over 60psi out of the setup and can't break 126mph. Truck weighs 7000lbs. Thinking I want to swap the 88mm out for 2 s366's.

11.22@126 with a 1.73 60'.

I really dont think that your turbo selection should be holding you back at all. You have a lot of air on tap, for some reason it just isnt playing nice with your setup.

Have you tried plugging the wastegate to drive the high pressure harder? My 472 was making 60psi of the 85psi total. Gate is a 45mm with a 12# spring and total boost feed into the side. As you can see in my videos, the truck doesnt even haze once they are lit.

My gate is not being used at all right now in an effort to drive the valley turbo as hard as possible. I have full boost to the top port to keep it forced closed.

I just don't get why it won't make more boost. Turbonetics says my 88mm really shines at 40psi. I can only get 25psi out of it. Gauge goes to 60psi for total boot and just sits there. And only time it will even come close to 60psi is in 5th lockup. WOT converter unlocked is like 46-48psi.

What else is there to look at? Gate is eliminated, tried tighter housing and compressors to drive the valley turbo harder...seem to still have a decent amount of fuel left over too.

Sounds like your secondary charger is choking the primary on the hot side. Have you tried going the other way on gate tuning? I would be more inclined to run the primary harder if at all possible it will really dictate your overall hp potential by how hard it is driven.

I don't see how the secondary is choking the primary. Secondary has an 87mm turbine and i have tried both a 1.0 housing and just swapped to a .90 housing with zero change. I've seen stock turbos put full weigh crew cabs to a 7.0 in the 1/8th so I highly doubt the secondary is choking the primary in my situation.

still sounds like there are leaks somewhere.

I'd think if there were leaks bad enough to hinder performance that bad, there would be soot every where under there. I've looked top to bottom for exhaust leaks and can't find any.

I will go check for boost leaks again right now.
