Cant wait to see how it works out Mike!
Have you looked at the BD intercoolers? I saw a 50* to 100* reduction in EGT's with mine...theyre cheaper than the Mishimoto's albeit heavier...theyre cast on top bottom and sides

I haven't looked into any intercoolers lately. My silicone job holds like a champ haha.

also decided to ditch this 11 blade wheel and go back to the cast 7 blade. I don't think the 11 blade wheel played well in the compound setup

I just installed a spearco torque-master intercooler in my truck. I think its about as big as it could be and still fit in the stock location. I'm pleased with it so far.

Send that 1.0 housing my way

I will after I do some testing with this .90

Upon tear down i noticed soot kinda everywhere under the turbo and all over the y bridge and intake manifolds. When I pulled the turbo off one of the bolts was loose mounting to the pedestal...though for sure that was the leak. Wiped everything down and got the revamped turbo in and back together. Took it for a test drive...honestly couldn't tell much difference. Got home and inspected for leaks...what do you know, all the soot is back. Looks like my tube pedestal is cracked somewhere. It is blowing soot all over. Still makes 60psi overall boost and like 27-28 psi from the 88mm atmo. Going to let it cool down, tear it back apart and weld the pedestal before tomorrow's race.

I fought the same issue on my pedestal. Would only leak under high boost and temps. Had to remove it to find the cracks.

Yep that's exactly what it's doing. It looks fairly substantial too. I went on a 5 mile drive with about 5 WOT runs and the soot is caked under there. I'vegot the compressor cover back off and can almost see where it is coming from.

You can see the back of the y bridge blasted with soot and the intake manifold there where I wiped my finger. All from a quick drive down the street. Glad I found it.

haha yea that will do it for sure. That is a serious crack. Bet you pick up some boost once that is fixed.

About the whole .90 vs 1.0 thing, I run a .90 housing on my 472, really helped with daily driving it.

Yea it was cracked bad. Welded as much of the back side as I could. Also welded all the way around on the inside. Will have to wait till tomorrow to mill it flat again at my dad's house.

Well it is about 25° cooler on the test drive than it was after I initially changed up the turbo earlier in the afternoon. Not sure if it's the temperature difference or what did it definitely felt alot better. Didn't have a chance to hit 5th lockup to see the high boost numbers. Also checked for soot blow out and so far it is nice and clean under there. The leak is definitely fixed...for now anyways.

If it cracks again, I'll be swapping to a cast pedestal.

Coming in late to the party, but wouldn't Mike's elevation (in SLC) play into the choice of a/r? What works well in IA or DE wouldn't necessarily work the same in UT, right?
