Your not going to get full demand by running it high idle with the Fpr unplugged. The demand for full load & wot no load will be way differen't.

With FPR disconnected will running the truck to WOT be a bad idea? I just want to see If the cp3 can keep up with the injectors under full demand.

It will be loud but I've done it for testing purposes with no I'll consequence

You are better to use EFI dvt to ramp rail press though

All this will show is if the cp3 will go to max and sustain if that's what your looking for

I just wanted to eliminate possibility of something wrong with the fpr portion of my tune. I figured if I unplug it, bring the Rp to max and run it, it should stay pegged to the max output that the cp3 can hold.
Well... It didn't. Rp dropped from 26,200 at 2000 Rpm down to 19k at 2200 rpm.

I called ii and explained my situation. They say that it sounds like the FCA (?) is stuck and isn't allowing full flow.

I asked him wtf an FCA is and he said that it's where the plug is on the back side of the cp3. The "fuel control actuator) So I'm assuming he means FPR?
They said they would mail me a new one to install and try out. But I'm leaving to my duty station tomorrow. So I'll be coming off of leave and I will have to wait.

x3 thats why I asked if it was at idle or you did a WOT with it unplugged. At idle it will only tell you if you have a junk cp3, not a weak one.

Yes they mean the regulator
Also... Checked for codes. Truck is throwing a p0089 continuously now. I clear it and it comes back up.

Because your rail pressure is 6,000 calling for 4,500 at idle. Makes sense

I did a run to wot with it disconnected. Still drops Rp. So maybe ii is right and the fpr is stuck. I'd much rather swap fpr's than install another cp3. This is annoying

I dont think it is? I hope im wrong though

If the fpr is stuck how does it get to 160mpa+ when the regulator is unplugged?

Pat.....Can you log the truck and then start it with the reg unplugged and then post it for us to view.

X2 no way you would get full rail at idle with it unplugged if the Regulator was sticky.

Ben its been a while but IIRC pail press is 8k at idle? I would have to go out and log my lly but its cold out:D

No its usually around 4500 to 4700, but I don't think the fpr is the problem either. Wiseful thinking, didn't want to say what I really think the problem is... And that's ii

Albert just thinking out loud but it might actually go fuel rail but just take a bit to do so?

Not sure....thats why i asked for a log file.

Pat, Tony could fix this he is a really good tuner and knows his way around modded D-maxes.....Obviously you dont want to drive there to find out its not tuning but it might just save a lot of head ache:(
