LLY: 85 over cp3. Sounds like a ford

Thanks guys. I'll make some changes to it and see what happens. It's pretty annoying rolling around in a dmax that sounds like a ford. Truck runs great though. Just sounds kinda funky.

And for what it's worth, truck starts up perfectly. The first time I started it, it took a bit. But that was just to get the system primed with fuel.

Ok guys... So I'm working on getting this thing tuned... I got rid of the dreadful 7.3 psd sound. Rp at idle was upwards of 14k. I lowered the psi on my lift pump and it dropped rp to 6k with a 4500 commanded. Still high but sounds normal.

This is where I'm at now.
Ran some logs from a boosted launch. Rp holds till ~3k rpm and drops from 21k with (21k commanded) down to 19k. At the end of the run, the truck commands 24.3k.

I did a bottle test. It failed even though it was shimmed.

Installed a ppe race valve and tested again. It passed.

Checked for codes... None.

Checked for kinks in the fuel lines... None are apparent.

Checked fpr connection... Looks good.

Pump is new and not a reman.

Any ideas?

I was thinking about the fpr and how those things are built and modified. The little triangle that allows fuel to pass through are usually enlarged on the bigger end to let more fuel in. Is it possible that the tune I have isn't letting that triangle open up all the way and not letting the full amount of fuel to be passed through?

Rp increased from low 19k to high 19k-20.3k. Kinda fluctuates between at wot. When I let the throttle go, it spikes to 26k. But that's just bc the truck isnt asking for fuel at that point.
Forgive me... Not to efi live savvy. Not sure how to check uS and return rates. If you coach me through it, I'll let you know.

Crank up the rail pressure at idle. If it won't make max psi at idle it will never make it. If it doesn't hold you need to do a injector return rate test.

It's hit 26k when I let go of the throttle from wot.
To crank it up at idle, can't I just unplug the fpr? From what I have heard, this Pegs the cp3 to max psi.

How do I do an injector return rate test?

How much pulse width are you trying to run with your 60% injectors?

To tell the truth, idk how to check pulse width. This is only the second day of me playing with efi live. My knowledge base on using it stops at making logs and selecting pid's. If you tell me how to pull it up, I'll tell you what it is.
The truck is moonshine tuned if that helps.

I unplugged the fpr and rp held at a little over 26k

I logged it and sent it to guy. When guy did my motor he did the 60% injectors and tuning as well. He outsources the tunes to tony.

After I sent them, we worked on lowering rp at idle so the truck wouldn't buck and sound like a ford.
Then ran a few logs again and sent them to him. Haven't heard back from him since I did the bottle test and did the race valve.

Shoot a email off to tony again and ask him what the pulse width is for that tune your runnin. If hes comfortable tellin ya/us, then you can share. i know sharing tuning stuff can be touchy so i dont want you steppin on anyones toes ya know, he will probably help you out and explain it as well anyhow. it may be too much for that pump is why everyone is wondering what it is. 60 overs like to drink diesel :D
