Put a little time in it today.

Got a steering column built. Added about 11" to the length & welded on some new brackets.

Had a little scare... started welding the extension on the center shaft & the welder immediately sounded wierd & then a loud pop from the steering column.
I had the column grounded, but not the center shaft itself. As far as I can tell, the current through the column internals ignited the grease in the swivel portion. I at first thought I popped the airbag.....

Sounds like a close call . . . but nice work on the steering column too. Keep up the good work! :thumb:

Never enough time to work on it.....

Actually it is frustrating to look at something you do not have time for.
I stood next to it for the last 2 days straight working on customer projects & only managed to paint the small steering column to floor bracket. 20 minutes time does not get you much progress.
