    Could be the batteries or the starter. Like it has been said jumping the posts on the starter should have gave you something most times it will. Hate to have you throw parts at it although. I'd give it a good jump or charge the batteries then try and bump the starter again.

    If you have bad injectors ,high return rates,that will cause hard starts. If it does the same at normal operating temps start up that kind of rules out the glow plugs. Check your injectors

    How does one go about "earning" it? Is that meant for the purchaser or builder?I understand the builder earning a great reputation and skill to know what he's doing but for a purchasers out look that would want the best "all bells and whistles" how would they go about "earning" the upgrade...

    You can make enough power with stock injectors to tear up your Allison. If you have that kind of mileage on the truck you have better things to spend money on right now then bigger injectors.
