    LB7 Injector balance rate questions

Thanks for the input guys ... guess I am in the wait and see category. That and start looking for a LLY to swap heads / injectors ... or a complete LBZ ... or something else to swap with. Does anyone whose had them on the way out had any luck with troubleshooting using the pull the glow plugs...

    LB7 Injector balance rate questions

Truck has 64,000 miles on it. Original injectors that have never been replaced. So far, it is not making oil and my mileage is somewhat close .... within 1 MPG of where it usually is. BTW - how do you tell that injectors are the "new style"? Belive that I have read that you have to see the...

    LB7 Injector balance rate questions

I know - I own an LB7 so I shouldn't be too shocked with injector issues. Well, recently I finally got around to checking injector balance rates on my LB7. 2004 LB7 with 64k miles on it that I bought new. At around ~4k miles, I put on a Caterpillar 1R0749 fuel filter on the frame rail (before...

    Buick Grand National

As a fellow G body guy (sorry, could only afford a Malibu), these are fantastic cars. I did pop for the Buick dash & interior panels when I re-did the interior though :). If you do want to go a little crazy with one, I have a few theories on how to set up a 3.8L so it could run OBD II with...

    Lb7 help!!!

Old trick a buddy taught me when he didn't break in his solid lifter cam very well. He mushroomed the lifters so much that they couldn't be pulled out. To remove them, he found a piece of aluminum siding, trimmed it for width and length such that when he rolled it up into a trough, it would...

    I'm a Traitor!!!

One of the truths about global engineers - American engineers develop / invent the most stuff. The Japanese are the ones who take an existing design and refine it for manufacture / cost / etc... As was previously mentioned, the American manufacturers then typically outsource and cut costs on...

    LLY to LBZ Conversion Complete

Aside from the piston issues, you'd probably be better dropping a complete motor in (that's what I'll be doing). I'm pretty sure the reluctor wheel on the LBZ's is different from the one on the LB7 & LLY's, so it wouldn't quite be pull LB7 heads and install LBZ heads. From what I have...

Running model of a V12 engine

OPERATIONAL V-12 ENGINE THAT FITS IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND – 10 MINUTES…. This is not CNC technology; this guy made everything at home on his lathe and drill press. Took 1220 hours (a year and a half?) to make the 261 pieces. Note the end-loaded crankshaft into the block (like an...

Logging external thermocouples and other inputs

as long as they are ungrounded, your good. That has been my experiece with logging with the V2 Flashscan. As was said, you will need to do a little editing of the config.txt file that gets uploaded into the V2 so it can "see" that you are logging those extra thermocouples.

Are we going about it all wrong?

performancetrucks and LS1Tech.com ... same basic web sites that are focused on performance LSx engines. On the LS1Tech site, there is a section devoted to nothing but forced induction. That is the "other" forum that I read on an almost daily basis .. the turboforums.com is another very good...

    Mirros for an 04

Did some more searching / reading last night. It appears that the 03-07 mirrors are all the same ???? Saw a post where someone was retro fitting a set to a 99 HD (involved some pin swapping / plug changes). These were labeled as 2006 electric, heated, turn LED mirrors. PN 15860540...

    Mirros for an 04

Recently tagged the right power camper mirror (accordian style) on my CCSB. Luckily it only got the plastic. Everything else seems to work. Problem is, it appears that nobody sells just the housing. And a replacement mirror assembly is $$$. I've never really liked these mirrors too...

    6L80/6L90 transmission build?

I'll 2nd Circle D. They have done quite a bit of reverse engineering on the 6L80 / 6L90's and GM High Tech had an article about a year ago about it. Quite a few guys with late model cars have been running their stuff.

    TTS steel pistons

As for the spraying the walls, the other big factor is the spray angle of the injectors. From what I have read (I know, VERY dangerous), the stock injectors are very flat. They were tuned for emissions and spraying very short shots close to TDC. Typically you want a narrower spray angle...

    TTS steel pistons

For what it's worth, a properly designed monotherm should weigh about the same as a race aluminum piston. We saw that back in the late 90's when running against the DAF trucks. We had some of the two piece pistons (steel tops with aluminum skirts) and they weighed less than the DAF's all...

    EFI Live V1

Just keep your old version of EFI Live handy. That way you can still use the older version to talk with the V1, and use the newer one to access any of the tables that have been added.
