    When I pulled the balancer off my 03, it looked that way....it had greenish-blue residue on it. When I pulled the balancer off my 05, the threads were clean. Not sure if it was supposed to have anything or not, but everytime I've reinstalled one, I didn't use anything. Just torque it back...

    Blown water pump could be caused by excessive cooling system pressure. Ive heard of a few ppl having waterpump issues right after doing headgaskets when they reused the pump.

    They mount to the body.... mainly the pinch weld... they also have arms welded to the step that keep it from leveraging back when loaded by pushing up against the cab bottom. You'll have to drill the pinch weld in a couple spots..... helps to have another person helping hold the step while...
