I prefer flo pro over mbrp. Especially in the aluminized ones. On the mbrp the hanger and clamps run fast. The flo pro ones are coated. Plus they seem to fit better and use a little thicker wall pipe.
I've heard good things about the flo pro systems also, I think there also cheaper?

I've been happy with my 4" mbrp. I agree with the previous posts about the performance gains. I'm glad I changed my downpipe because I did seem to drop some egt's but I mostly like it because the exhaust sound is deeper and the screech is gone under heavy throttle.

Thanks...I take it the turbo back is more benifical than the cat back? I see Diamond Eye has a 5" no muffler turbo back for 322.00. Or would it be wise to run muffler?

Do you tow a lot? If you tow heavier stuff like campers or skid loaders I would do muffler. If not go without. I would stay away from diamond eye. I put one on my lmm and hate its fitment. I am about to rip it off and do a flow pro 4 inch stainless.

I tow with mine and I have a muffler. It can get a little loud when loaded heavy but not too bad. Some guys say their 06's aren't much louder without the muffler but I don't know anything about that.

Ditching the cat will also help lower EGT's.

I ran both 4" and 5" on my 05.... preferred the sound of the 5". After replacing the downpipe, it sounded 10x better as well as a slight SOTP pickup in responsiveness. I fit the 5" on my truck when it was lowered with no issues... the only spot it comes close to hitting is the trans crossmember and it still cleared that with a 1/2-3/4" of room. However, yanking it out to put the cat back in for smog time was FAR easier when the truck was lifted. Gets kinda tight in there, shoehorning a 5" pipe between the body, trans, framerails and crossmembers.

I ran without a muffler, preferred the sound. It never annoyed me until I put the topper on, that caused an echo that could be heard in the cab. Got used to it, and eventually tuned it out.

edit: forgot to add, the above may have been because the exhaust dumped at a 45* over the differential.... may have been the cause for the echo. Normal exiting exhaust may not do that.

SS will hold up better than the aluminized will, how long though, I have no idea.... I live in Nevada...aluminized is more than good enough for this climate:D

I bought the T304 stainless Mbrp back in 05 (when my LLY was new) and it still has a nice shiney polished appearance. If it gets road grime on it a little simple green and a brillo pad and it looks like new.

Oh, it sees snow and salt. I live in Indiana and used to live in Mi. Over 210k on the exhaust system.

I have ran 4 and 5" and like the 5" better. I have both Flo Pro and Magna flow and like both. They sound a little different from each other. Both fit well the Magna flow is 5" all the way except right at the down pipe connection point. I prefer stainless over the others. Cost isn't that much different when you consider the life of each stainless is cheaper.

I was researching this earlier and found a little info on it. Some said that T409 will turn a brownish color so if you have the extra money go T304. If not, it seems aluminized will retain its original color and last for a long time even in rough conditions. I think I'm going with 5" aluminzed straight pipe for my lb7.

Im definitely going with the 5". I want the black series but also want straight pipe and mbrp black series comes with muffler. Im sure a pipe could be fitted in its place but why pay for a muffler when its not going to be used. Also still up in the air about the down pipe.

Also wondering what you guys suggest for other small up grades that will help out to increase in power.

If you are thinking about the MBRP in Black you can contact a dealer and it can be ordered in black with no muffler. I personally like the 5" with a muffler and the 4" without.
