Replacing Torsion bars and Leaf Springs

Finally got both leafs delivered. Each one came from a different vendor off Amazon, both are supposed to be Dorman 929-126 . Can you spot the difference?

Bumpstops are there intact. I think I've got about an inch gap between the stop and the frame.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

Sulastic is going to replace them for me! Just have to send them back and a new set will be sent out. Since they stand by their product even days past warranty I can't complain.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

I wish I would have looked sooner, I bet they've been like this for awhile. I never would have even checked if it weren't for my leafs being sacked.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

Still waiting to hear back. I called sulastic and the vendor I purchased from they said they'd let me know.

    Transmission temperature rising...any ideas?

I meant backflushing the trans fluid on the inside of the core (internally) not the outside of it. Unless that's what you meant.

    Transmission temperature rising...any ideas?

I think he means flushing the trans cooler that's infront of the rad. Clutch material plugs up in inside of it. I had to flush mine 3 times to get my built trans to run cool years ago after the swap.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

Anyone ever have issues trying to do a warranty claim a couple days after it expires? I'm hoping Sulastic doesn't have an issue with it just waiting to hear back from them.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

I think its been about 5 years since I've put them on, and I can't find an invoice for them. I don't put many miles on the truck anymore like I used to, just drive it on the weekends. *edit* Just found the invoice. Bought them on Oct 24th, 2018. I'll have to see if I can get them replaced.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

I agree, if they were decently priced I'd replace them but I can get stock moog ones for 1/5th of what these cost. In the garbage they will go. I sent Sulastic an email but I doubt anything with come of it. If anyone is wondering if they are worth it.....the harshness felt on your ass paying...

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

Weather is +30 Celsius in the summer and down to -30 Celisus in the winter. I've never even pulled a trailer since these have been on, just a slip tank with fuel in the box sometimes. I'm guessing the bushing seized to the pin and tore the rubber.

    Sulastic shackles after 30k

While I'm waiting for my new rear leaf springs to come in I decided to look at the sulastic shackles I put in about 30k miles ago.... For the $400 I'm not sure these were even worth it. Should I junk these and just get stock replacements?

It all makes sense! Thanks guys, when I get the parts on I'll update if I'm driving a steam boat still or cruising in caddy land.

Replacing Torsion bars and Leaf Springs

This is the confirmation to my suspicions I've been looking for. When I lifted, the cognito 4-6 NTBD came with Bilstein 5100s (silver) and we turned the torsions up to raise the front 1/2 to 3/4" to clear the 35s. Truck rode like a dream, better than stock actually. Then I swapped out the...

Replacing Torsion bars and Leaf Springs

Good to know! It'll cost me $1000 up here in Canada just for the torsions, hate to do them and nothing improves. Drivers side torsion, can feel a pretty good ridge at the top going into the LCA. Less than 1" of room at the rear of the leaf. Pretty much together at the front of the leaf.

Replacing Torsion bars and Leaf Springs

Maybe I'm second guessing myself but does anyone think replacing the tbars will improve the ride at all? Once they start to sag and I put more preload back into them to retain the same amount of height wouldn't that effectively make them 'stiffer' or would they still basically work the same as...

Replacing Torsion bars and Leaf Springs

I didn't think there would be much difference. I found in the glove box on the list of codes the torsion bar ones are on the very bottom right corner. Mine are 6GL and 7GL.

Replacing Torsion bars and Leaf Springs

It's time to replace both of these items. Looking over the torsion bar replacements I have 2 choices code GK which has a max torque of 8615 and code GL which has a max torque of 8782. I'm not sure what comes on a 2008 2500HD 4x4 (non z71) but I was leaning towards running the GK with a lighter...

    Still having trouble, need recomendations

Certain vendors you can buy a used LBZ ecm off of on a Google search and pre-program it for you to your VIN if you cannot do it yourself. I actually don't think anything needs to be programmed on a used ecm as long as you are stock
