    The best!

Sorry, just seen this. Glad it got there quick and it's working well for you Dylan. Thanks for the shout out! :thumb:

    shot peened rods

It's almost comical the amount of negativity towards trying to improve stock rods to bridge the gap a little between 600-800hp builds. It's almost like we enjoy paying $2000+ for a set of rods. If doing a shot peen and/or cryo helps at all with strength to give a viable alternative to...

Sorry, suppose that should have been in my original post. It's in my street rod. http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33686&page=7

RPM sweet spot for best MPG

Good point, thanks. 3rd gear 1:1 with 2.19 final would be 1850ish at 75. Might try it to see if it gets me anywhere before getting another gear set. They're only $30-$50 a set so it's not a big deal to have another set laying around.

RPM sweet spot for best MPG

It is lugging at times, more specifically if I have the converter locked and have to slow down to 65-70 for any reason. Maybe I'll order up another set of gears to get me in that range to see if it pulls any better numbers. So roughly 1500-1800rpm? Sounds like that may be a better spot to be...

RPM sweet spot for best MPG

2.19 gear. 30x16-15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman s/r's. 4L80e trans (.75 o/d) Weight is let's say ~<3000lbs Edit: Missed part 2 of your question. Cruise EGT's are roughly 550-600 on flat ground. Maybe a touch less. What? 2.19 rear gear for highway trips only. If slowing down is #1 way to net...

RPM sweet spot for best MPG

Optimal RPM for best MPG? Just did a 100+ mile round trip. 1375rpm @ 75mph netted me 30.5mpg. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly disappointed and didn't hope this build would get closer to or above 40mpg on the highway. Turbos don't make any boost til 1900, so cruising was 0psi today. Am...

I'll be down around that area September 6-14 for Drag Week.

    Duramax Street Rod

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the overall result. Those valve covers have been giving people fits trying to figure out what engine it is. Definitely give it an older look.

    1967 RS Duramax Camaro

I keep hearing this but after having both on an engine stand I'm not sure I agree. Dmax definitely seemed to make the stand groan more. Start adding another turbos, pumps, etc and those numbers skew pretty quickly.

    Finally starting....

:D glad I could be of some use even if the harnesses I brought didn't work and my suggestions didn't do any more than cost you some time and work. Hope you get it sorted out dude. I wouldn't be giving up just yet, if anything take some time away and come back to it later.

    New Gas Powered Hoopty/Drag Machine

That's awesome! $500 doesn't get you a whole lot these days in the vehicle department but that thing with a turbo has fun written all over it.

    Duramax sports car?

The mileage is certainly possible with a cruise of 980rpm but if you're right and it's running a 4L85E. I wonder what R&P it's using. It'd have to be in the low 1.x range to get even close to 190mph with short tires.

    Duramax Street Rod

Pre-registered today for Hot Rod Drag Week this September. Been driving it around and working out a few issues but now it's time to start stepping up the distance and power to prepare. Hoping to be in Denver and Woodburn for the NHRDA races too. Anyway, here's how the truck currently sits...

Harbor freight has a pretty cheap mechanical gauge kit that comes with a 14x1.5 fitting among others. I've used it in the past and it works just fine.

Well think its bout time to go new on this turbo too! Is this a y bridge? I thought l

See above. Doesn't have anything to do with blocking off the wastegate. Bad filtration. A hole in the filter or plumbing somewhere letting dirty air into the turbo and eroding the wheel.

Well think its bout time to go new on this turbo too! Is this a y bridge? I thought l

What makes you think it could implode at any time? It's just a little wheel erosion. Not even that bad honestly. There are plenty of turbos out there that look just like that and work fine. It's from dirt, sand or small debris getting past the air filter.
