Sorry posted that all wrong lol. I think its time for a new turbo! This one is pretty chewed up but no shaft play. Are llys the only motor with a y bridge? Is this a picture of a y bridge? I'm just kinda wondering if this had a motor swap.

OK that's what it does it goes from one side to another. I rebuilt my filter head and am replacing all the fuel lines on top of the motor. Also didn't know there is a valve for the fuel on the front. Thought it was for the ac lol. Can't believe how many wires run all over these things, a lot of things have to come off just to get to the cp3 supply line

All the hoses are replaced at least all the feed lines are. I will get the rest when the turbo is done this summer. Will probably put a 366 in and be done. Also in need of valve cover gaskets they are starting to leak a bit.

X2 on that. That thing could implode at anytime, have any idea what caused that??

What makes you think it could implode at any time? It's just a little wheel erosion. Not even that bad honestly. There are plenty of turbos out there that look just like that and work fine. It's from dirt, sand or small debris getting past the air filter.

Idk what happens to them this is my second one to do this. The last one didn't end well but that was my fault. Blocking off waste gates isn't a good idea. Lesson learned. Its still getting new in July.

I had every wire off the motor and of all the wiring the only one I forgot was the easiest maf. Yea I had dead pedal. Wanted to punch myself when I started down the road, I knew. At least it wasn't that hard to get to.

See above. Doesn't have anything to do with blocking off the wastegate. Bad filtration. A hole in the filter or plumbing somewhere letting dirty air into the turbo and eroding the wheel.

You miss understood me. I understand why it has nicks in the wheel. My last one had nicks in it too. The reason my last one went was because it had 200,000 and I plugged the waste gate. About three hours after plugging the waste gate it started whistling loud as heck. Then a loud pop and no boost sheared the shaft and sent the compressor wheel into the housing sent oil and aluminum into the intercooler. I bet a couple quarts came out of the boot when I took it loose.

I saw this on a truck at my buddies shop in for head gaskets. Said the turbo/truck ran just fine. There is literally a 1/4" gap all the way around the wheel.

His is from erosion, that is why its uniform. I think yours is from compressor wheel contact . I would not continue to run it, it is severely out of balance like that. Just buy a billet or stock cast wheel and swap it before the turbo bearings grenade on you...
